When the temperatures begin to drop and sweater season is here to stay, there’s truly no place like home. With two young kids and a busy schedule sitting at the helm of TZR, editor-in-chief Kathy Lee needs her home to be a place of warmth and serenity. In partnership with Macy’s, Lee shares her inspiration for infusing new life into both her style and her space for the season ahead.

From a melange of earthy and tonal colors in her living room decor to comfortable wardrobe staples for daytime adventures with the kids, here’s how she’s curating a life her family can enjoy together.

Kathy’s Take On Curating Stylish Spaces

We’re seeing a lot of bold hues and grayscale neutrals trending for fall — what’s your take on these looks?

Color is an instant mood-booster for me, and I love to punch up my fall look with a pop of orange, red, or yellow. Gray never goes out of style, and is a color that can be combined with the brightest shades to the softest hue — it’s a timeless classic.

What’s the best strategy for working these trends into your look?

When it comes to statement colors, I like to choose one item and build from there. Whether it be a pair of boots or a coat, I either keep it tonal or style with neutral pieces to let that statement color take center stage.

How are you celebrating being with family this season?

We love to spend time outdoors as much as we can, and come home and cozy up with a delicious, hot meal. For those rainy days when we are stuck indoors, we’ve been thinking of buying a foosball table to keep up the fun. The kids (and husband) get really into it!

Describe your personal fall style in a few words.

Fall is my favorite season in New York, and I like to transition into the season with light layers and coats, and add an element of bold color and pattern to my otherwise neutral outfits.

What’s a fall trend you’re especially excited about?

I’m in the market for a new trench coat, and this season, there are plenty to choose from that span beyond the usual black and beige — think deep purple, bordeaux, and rose to name a few interesting hues.
