Social media can make celebrity news feel overwhelming sometimes. Every part of the internet conspires to make it seem like you know every facet of a celebrity's life whether you want to or not. These 20 celebs you didn't know were married are the exception to that rule, however. Sometimes you just can't dodge engagement announcements or baby names, but there are the odd celebs who have become experts at flying under the radar. Maybe they got married before they became hugely famous or maybe they're just excellent at keeping secrets, but either way it's a major surprise to find out they tied the knot.

There are some couples who have unexpectedly been together for a very long time but didn't actually take a walk down the aisle, like John Corbett and Bo Derek, who I was not aware even knew each other. Other couples are newer and generally pretty lowkey, so their shift in marital status might not have registered as big news. If you're a pop culture expert then some of these names might be old news to you, but why not test your knowledge by checking them out?

Click through this list of celebrities you didn't know were married to see just how well you know the nuptials of the rich and famous.

Hank Azaria & Helen Hunt

Though Azaria and Hunt dated for years in the 90s (and even worked together on her sitcom Mad About You), their actual marriage was short-lived. They got hitched in 1999 and divorced a little over a year later.

George Clooney & Talia Balsam

George Clooney may have cultivated a bachelor lifestyle, but he actually tied the knot before his highly publicized marriage to Amal Alamuddin. He married actress Talia Balsam in 1989 and they separated a few years later in 1993. Balsam went on to marry John Slattery and even co-star on Mad Men as Roger Sterling's first wife Mona. Clooney later said he wasn't ready to be married at the time and wasn't fair to Balsam, but she doesn't seem to hold it against him. While promoting her show Divorce, Balsam told People that Clooney "remains charming."

Laura Dern & Ben Harper

Laura Dern was married to musician Ben Harper for eight years, from 2005 to 2013, and they have two children named Ellery and Jaya. Dern and Harper separated initially in 2010, but it took a few years for things to be finalized. Now Harper is remarried to a woman named Jaclyn Matfus.

Elisabeth Moss & Fred Armisen

Elisabeth Moss married Fred Armisen in 2009 but the unexpected pairing ended in divorce in 2011. They didn't seem to part on good terms, either, with Moss telling Page Six, "One of the greatest things I heard someone say about him is, 'He's so great at doing impersonations. But the greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person.' To me, that sums it up."

Angelina Jolie & Jonny Lee Miller

Angelina Jolie has been married a few times, but perhaps the least famous is her short union with Elementary's Jonny Lee Miller. Though the marriage ended in 1999, after just three years, Jolie told Us Weekly that Miller was "still a great friend."

Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Esposito

Did anyone know Bradley Cooper was married, let alone that he was married to Jennifer Esposito? Maybe some people did, but I certainly wasn't one of them. And it might be better that way, because Esposito did not have positive things to say about her ex in her memoir Jennifer's Way. "He was funny, smart, cocky, arrogant, and a master manipulator," she wrote. "I didn't necessarily find him that attractive, but I figured that I could enjoy his sense of humor and nonsense for a while." Apparently not for very long, because they parted after just four months.

Catherine Keener & Dermot Mulroney

In "Have I Ever Even Seen These Two People Stand Next To Each Other Before?" News: Catherine Keener and Dermot Mulroney were married for over a decade. They wed in 1990 and divorced in 2007 with minimal fanfare. They share one son, Clyde.

Peter Facinelli & Jennie Garth

Former Twilight vampire dad Peter Facinelli and Kelly Taylor were married for over a decade after tying the knot in 2001. They had three daughters together and divorced in 2013, but even though Garth remarried to David Abrams, she's still on good terms with her ex. They even vacation together as one big happy family.

Jennifer Grey & Clark Gregg

Though they each have big projects that launched them into the pop culture landscape in a big way (Dirty Dancing and all things Marvel, respectively), the marriage of Jennifer Grey and Clark Gregg might have slipped your mind solely because it's so drama-free. They've been happily married since 2001. It may not make news, but it's nice to hear.

Gary Oldman & Uma Thurman

Yes, that's right: somehow the wrong wires crossed in 1990 and Uma Thurman ended up married to Gary Oldman for three years. He was 12 years her senior, so Thurman was just 20 when they tied the knot while Oldman was in his early 30s. Their subsequent marriages to other people distracted from their brief union, but it's a great fun fact to whip out at parties. Just make sure to have the evidence on hand, or your audience might not buy it.
