More suspense, drama, and, of course, murder are in store for the Duttons in Yellowstone’s new prequel series, 1923. But how are these Duttons related to the members we’ve already met in Yellowstone and the origin story series 1883? Here’s everything you need to know.

Jacob Dutton

Jacob (Harrison Ford) is the brother of James Dutton (played by Tim McGraw in 1883). Following the deaths of his siblings, he heads the Dutton ranch with his wife Cara in 1923.

Cara Dutton

Cara (Helen Mirren) is the wife of Jacob Dutton and a rancher herself from Ireland. Cara and Jacob do not have any children, but raised their nephews, John and Spencer, as their own after the deaths of the boys’ parents, James and Margaret Dutton, who we meet in 1883.

John Dutton

The oldest son of James and Margaret Dutton, John (James Badge Dale) is married to Emma. The rancher has a younger brother, Spencer, and an older sister, Elsa, who meets a tragic end in 1883.

Emma Dutton

Emma (Marley Shelton) is the wife of John Dutton. Emma and John have a son, Jack, and another child who died at a young age.

Spencer Dutton

The youngest son of James and Margaret Dutton, Spencer (Brandon Sklenar) is a veteran of World War I. We first meet him in 1923 in Africa, where he hunts deadly predators and falls in love with Alexandra, an English socialite.
