Wednesday is a supernatural teen thriller-comedy that delightfully pays homage to the original Addams Family while forging its own path. We’re taking a look at the creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky casts of the 1990s films and the new series.

Wednesday Addams

The new series maintains Wednesday’s flat affect and penchant for the macabre from the original TV show and films while putting emphasis on a teenage rebellious streak (and newfound psychic powers).

Gomez Addams

Flamboyant, swashbuckling, and incredibly in love with his wife, Luis Guzman’s turn as the over-the-top patriarch of the Addams clan would no doubt make Raul Julia proud.

Morticia Addams

Catherine Zeta Jones’ Morticia maintains the aloof, soft spoken charisma of Anjelica Houston’s take on the character, but this Morticia has a bit of an authoritarian edge to her as she struggles with her teenage daughter.

Pugsley Addams

Wednesday and Pugsley have always shared a special bond (who else would let his sister electrocute him for fun). Isaac Ordonez plays the role somewhat more sensitively than his predecessors, who have been wholly comedic.

Uncle Fester

Fred Armisen had some big shoes to fill taking over this role from comedy legend Christopher Lloyd, but never let it be said he wasn’t committed: he actually shaved his head for the one episode stint!

Lurch

The silent, enormous tall butler and chauffeur to the Addamses is a steadfast presence in the family... and you don’t want to mess with such an iconic look. We think George Burcea was a great pick for the role Carel Struycken played in the movies.

Thing

Thing looks a little worse for wear in Wednesday, but he’s just as spry as ever. Fun fact: both disembodied hands were played by magicians over the years — Christopher Hart in the films and Victor Dorobantu in the new series.

Christina Ricci

While not a character, Christina Ricci has made appearances in both the films and the new series. She slayed (literally and figuratively) as Wednesday in the ‘90s films and is now taking a turn as Marilyn Thornhill, the Ophelia Dorm mother.
