11 Eye Makeup Tips For Lazy Girls Who Are Short On Time

by Shannon Fiedler

When it comes to nailing a makeup look, the eyes make all the difference. But if you are a little bit lazy when it comes to cosmetics, you may be looking for easy eye makeup tips that will make you look red carpet ready without having to put in that much effort.

I'm one of those people who is perpetually “running a little late" when getting ready in the morning (or the afternoon, or the evening), so I'm always looking to shave a few minutes off of my routine. Since I can't make my coffee brew any faster and I can't shorten my commute (when is apparating going to become a muggle thing?), my beauty routine often gets the short end of the stick.

But I don't want to sacrifice my appearance just because I happened to hit snooze more than once. So what I'm looking for are some quick and easy makeup tips that can have me out the door quickly, but still looking polished. And I know I'm not alone on this. I know there are other women who wish they could actually "wake up like this" because they like the way makeup looks, but don't want to have to actually do it.

Whether you're pressed for time, feeling tired, or just want easier ways to accomplish a fierce look, these tips will have you briskly and effortlessly acing your eye makeup style.

1

Curl Your Lashes

An eyelash curler is not a torture device; it's the easiest way to look more awake and make you eyes bigger. Pump the curling wand once you've clamped in the lashes makes the effect look even more dramatic.

2

Use A Matte Powder

Matte eye powder effortlessly creates texture on your eyelids and looks good on any skin.

3

Rest Your Elbow On The Table

Shaky hand is a real thing, and it is a problem sweeping the eyeliner-wearing nation. This is especially problematic in the morning because, let's be honest, you're too tired to lift your arm let alone keep it steady. The solution? Sit down, prop your elbow up on the table and then apply liner.

4

Opt For Shimmery Over Smokey

The smokey eye is a go-to nighttime look, but it takes some serious skill and a lot of effort. If you're feeling a little lazy, just swipe on some shimmery shadow. You'll feel dolled up for the occasion, but won't have to spend an hour putting on your face.

5

Put Dark Shadow On The Crease and Outer Corners

Using a darker hue in the crease and outer corners of the eyes will instantly make the eyes appear more open and rounder.

6

Swipe On Black Mascara

It doesn't matter if your hair is blonde, red, or as dark as Pocahontas'. Black mascara is flattering on everyone and creates the most dramatic look for the least amount of effort. Your eyes will look clear and white in contrast, and your lashes will stand out.

7

Use A Taupe Shadow

If eyeliner is just too much effort in the morning, simply use a taupe shadow and some mascara. It creates a clean, casual look, perfect for daytime.

8

Hold The Mascara Wand Vertically

Holding your mascara lengthwise will add length to the lashes since you'll hit each lash individually. This also means less clumping, so it's a win-win technique.

9

Highlight With Glimmery Shadow

Glimmer is a good highlighter, making your eyes look bigger. You can just put it on the lids, or you can also apply to the inner corners to open up the eye even more.

10

Wiggle Your Mascara Wand

When you put on your mascara, wiggle the wand back and forth at the base. Believe it or not, the appearance of length actually comes from the root of the lashes, not to the tips.

11

Use Vaseline To Clean Up You Messes

You're putting on your liquid eyeliner and suddenly you look like you have a black eye. Or God forbid you sneeze right after applying mascara. Don't take it all off and start over — just use a Q-tip with petroleum jelly to carefully remove excess marks.
