Growing up without my real father around was a little tougher than I made myself believe. As I look back on my childhood and the disconnect between us, I question how I never cried when he didn't call or how I never asked my mom many questions about him. Though my stepfather came in the picture shortly after, I always wished we had a closer relationship than we did. Now that I'm older though, I'm very appreciative of the relationship we did have and know that there are Father's Day quotes that perfectly convey how I feel.
My niece, though she's only a toddler, has a great relationship with her father. There's adornment in her eyes every time he opens the door to come home from work or every time he goes to pick her up from school. Although my first instinct was to always run to my mom, I get an extremely warm feeling seeing the way my niece reacts when her dad is around. Seeing those two together actually gives me a bit of the feeling I think I missed as a child and the feeling that I want my own children to have with their father.
It doesn't matter if it's a biological father's love or a stand-in father's love that you have. These 15 quotes will help explain exactly how you're feeling.

"I believe that what we become depends on what our fathers teach us at odd moments, when they aren't trying to teach us. We are formed by the little scraps of wisdom." — Umberto Eco
