15 Things To Thank Your Father For On Father's Day

The start of summer is filled with a lot of activity (think beach days and BBQ nights), and sometimes Father's Day can wind up getting lost in the bustle of warmer weather and freedom. But Father's Day is right around the corner, which means it's time to start crafting a list of things to thank your father for on Father's Day. Although a gift might be nice, when it comes to celebrating dear old dad, it's really the thought that counts. You'd be surprised just how far a thoughtful thank you can go when it comes to your dear old dad.

For some, it's easy to think of fathers simply as authority figures; the guy who kept you in line during your teen years. But your dad is so much more than that, and he deserves all the thanks. (Yes, he even deserves thanks for being the guy who kept you in line during your hellacious teen years.) From healing broken hearts to teaching you how to change tires to some of the smaller things you've probably forgotten over the years, dads do a lot for their children and deserve recognition. Dads have a tendency of unloading years and years of advice on you, even when you don't ask for it. But when you become an adult, you look back on all of those times your dad sat you down to give you his take a situation you found, and you appreciate it. Be sure to show your gratitude for all of the sage wisdom he's passed along to you over the years.

2. Saying "Yes" To Anything Mom Said "No" To

You could always ask your dad for the things your mom said no to. Sleepover at Stacey's? Dad was totally cool with it. Taking the car? Dad said yes. Going to the mall? Asking dad was always the way to go.

Whether it was with chores, allowance, or sleepovers, your dad taught you the art of bartering, and you took that lesson and ran with it. Thanks to him, you know never to settle with the first offer and to always ask for more. Because if you don't ask, you'll never know.
