17 Things The Mom In Your Life *Actually* Wants For The Holidays
Being a mom means your job is to care for others almost all the time. During the holidays, what any mom wants more than anything is to be pampered, whether that's with fancy soap or a new iPad — anything that will transport her away from reality and give her a moment of peace, if only for a few seconds. It's not always easy to think of the perfect present, so we're here to help you with list of things moms actually want for the holidays, and we're pretty sure your mom is going to love you even more — yes, it is possible —when she unwraps these gifts.
It took becoming a mom myself to finally understand just how much moms appreciate to be utterly pampered, even an eye mask (to upgrade from the leftover one I had been using from a flight) was enough to send me over the moon — it was the most glorious present I could have received. Even the number one mom in my life (my own), has always wanted slightly luxurious gifts she wouldn't dare buy for herself, like a pretty serving board. And my sister, also a new mom, only wants fancy skincare items.
But don't worry, buying a present for the mom in your life doesn't mean you have to shell out big bucks (although it doesn't hurt in most cases). Because the gesture of a thoughtful gift will be well-received, no matter how small.
1For The Mom Who Wants To Tune Out
Wireless headphones ($145, Anthropologie)
No more wrestling for moms on a stroll when she's stuck walking the neighborhood while her kid is fast asleep in the stroller. These lightweight wireless headphones means she can listen to her favorite podcast without waking the baby, and they are so chic.
2For The Beauty Buff
Urban Decay Naked3 Palette ($54, Sephora)
This palette sold out in minutes when it debuted, so the mom in your life will be thrilled to get her hands on one and start getting spruced up! It's got a shade for the most minimalist makeup look, and dark hues for that smokey eye effect, too.
3For The Cozy Chick
Dot pom hat ($15, Gap)
This is a ridiculously cute cozy hat with a soft pom and sparkly polka dots. It will keep their head warm and look good with any outfit. What's not to love?
4For The Lounge Queen
Natori Midi robe ($59, Nordstrom)
Every mom needs a bathrobe, whether her kids are seven months or 27 years. It's the ultimate in lounge wear that can instantly hide any icky pajamas and make her feel a little fancy. This one from luxe brand Natori is super duper soft.
5For The Fitness Enthusiast
Fitbit Alta ($129, Amazon)
And while she's logging all those miles around the neighborhood, she may as well take some credit for her step count with a Fitbit! Or grandma can compete with her friends for the most steps chasing after grandchildren. Moms of all generations will enjoy how small and sleek it is.
6For The Product Junkie
Body Hero duo ($35, Glossier)
If you want to know what the cool kids (er, moms) are putting on their bodies to keep them soft and healthy, head over to Glossier. This soap and lotion duo from their skincare line is a sure bet and smells divine. Actually all of their makeup is beloved too, so put together a full package of goodies — as much as your wallet can spare.
7For The Netflix Fan
Sometimes you've just got to splash out for that mama in your life. Go for a sparkly new iPad Pro so she can binge the latest season of the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel in peace, anywhere in the house, and before you know it, it'll replace her outdated laptop, too, so it's like getting two gifts in one!
8For Cozy Feet
Wicked Good Moccasins ($79, L.L. Bean)
Cozy feet make for a happy mama. Isn't that a saying? Well, it should be, and these L.L. Bean moccasins are exactly what will keep her feet warm all winter long, indoors and out.
9For The Play-Dater
Topshop Faux Leather Backpack ($50, Nordstrom)
Play dates just got a whole lot more stylish with this faux leather backpack. Sometimes a diaper bag is more practical, but when she can get away with it you know she's going to just throw a couple diapers and wipes into this pack to feel a little more fancy.
10For The Gardener
Mini watering can ($18, Terrain)
Even if she's only watering a window box of herbs, the mom in your life needs one of these adorable mini watering cans to take care of all her favorite greens.
11For The Hostess
Marble and copper cutting board ($40, Williams-Sonoma)
I haven't met too many moms who don't love a good cheese board, and what better way to serve cheese and other snacks than on a special monogram marble platter?
12For The Sleep-Deprived
Cloud Nine sleep mask ($18, Anthropologie)
I'll admit, sleep masks always looked unnecessary until I tried one. And now I can't sleep without it. It also helps tremendously when you're trying to catch up on sleep in those newborn months in the middle of the day when you just can't seem to get your room dark enough.
13For The Lipstick Queen
Clinique The Chubbettes Set ($50, Macy's)
No matter her mood, mom will find a lip color to match from this oh-so-satisfying set of 20 lip shades from Clinique.
14For The Bird Lover
Byer of Maine birdhouse ($40, The Grommet)
Give this gift a shot even if the mom in your life isn't yet a bird lover. A chic birdfeeder like this could encourage one of the most peaceful and surprisingly rewarding hobbies.
15For The Choco-holic
Single-origin chocolate taster ($48, Mouth)
This single-origin chocolate taster will be a serious upgrade from the basket of stale Halloween candy she's been dipping into lately.
16For The Fixer Upper Fan
Gather napkin ring ($3, Target)
These napkin rings are the perfect stocking stuffer for the mom in your love who cannot get enough of Joanna Gaines — aka all of us. They're from the Gaines' stellar new collection with target.
17For Skincare Obsessed
Tata Harper Glow For It Kit ($60, Sephora)
If the lucky mama in your life does not know about Tata Harper yet, it's about to be her new favorite brand.
