18 Names For Beyonce’s Twins Inspired By JAY-Z Lyrics

by Kristina Johnson

The moment the Beyhive has been anticipating for months has finally arrived: Beyoncé and JAY-Z's twins are here. Since the star couple has kept so many details under wraps (like the exact birthdate and sexes), fans are waiting and speculating about the newest additions. One thing some are especially eager to find out is what the twins are named. Could the proud new parents drew inspiration from JAY-Z's raps? There are a number of names for Beyoncé's twins from JAY- Z lyrics, if they decide to go that route.

According to Rolling Stone, JAY-Z has been laying down tracks since the 1980s. His incredible musical body of work includes 10 number one albums and dozens of hit tracks. His songs touch on all the most important people, places, and events in his life, from his days growing up in a Brooklyn housing project with a single mother to jet-setting all over the world with the Queen Bey herself. Since becoming a dad, JAY-Z's daughter Blue Ivy has popped up in his songs, too, according to Billboard. With the twins now here, it's a pretty good bet that fans will hear more about them in future songs.

Here are nine pairs of names that could make sense for the Carter twins, given their connections to their rapper dad's music.

1

Brooklyn And Rocco

JAY-Z has given plenty of shoutouts to his beloved Brooklyn in his music. JAY's home borough has become increasingly popular as a girl's name, staying in the top 30 for the past two years according to the Social Security Administration. JAY-Z also regularly name drops his Roc-A-Fella records in his songs, which could easily morph into the boy's name Rocco.

2

Eric And Mickey

JAY-Z looks back on some of the most important people in his life in the song "Blueprint (Momma Loves Me)". The lyrics pay tribute to "Mickey who fed me and dressed me", as well as "Eric [who] fought me, made me tougher." According to ThoughtCo, Mickey and Eric are JAY-Z's sister and brother. Naming the twins after them would be a lovely tribute to family.

3

Whitney And Bonnie

JAY-Z has never shied away from expressing his love for his famous wife in his music, and that's very much on display in "'03 Bonnie and Clyde." He compares her to another super talented female singer, Whitney Houston, as well as the infamous female half of the bank robbing duo Bonnie and Clyde. Jay seems to admire both women (for very different reasons, obviously), making them possible contenders for twin girls names.

4

Shawn And Corey

No, I'm not suggesting this pairing as a nod to Boys Meets World. You could easily forget, but JAY-Z reminds listeners in "Pray" that his real first name is Shawn, and his middle name is Corey. Although they're probably more common as boy names, both could conceivably be used for girls as well.

5

Mercedes And Paris

JAY-Z raps about running out and buying twin Mercedes for the babies in the song "Shining." It's not just a high end car, however— it's also a gorgeous girl's name meaning "gracious gifts" according to Nameberry.

As for Paris, JAY and Bey have performed there and brought along daughter Blue according to Elle. And of course JAY has rapped about the City of Light in a hit collaboration with Kanye West.

6

Rose And Emory

JAY gives a shout out to his good friend Emory Jones on the track "La Familia," and the two have apparently become closer than ever since Jones's release from prison according to Hip Hop Wired. Naming a boy twin after him would be a great nod to their lifelong friendship. For a girl twin, the classic and beautiful Rose would make a great choice— the flower pops up in JAY-Z's "Guns and Roses".

7

Sarah And Carrie

As mentioned above, JAY-Z loves to compare his famous wife to other glamorous women. He compares her fabulous shoe collection to Sarah Jessica Parker's on Sex and The City in his song "Pretty Girls." It's not the only reference to Beyoncé's love for the show he's made, either. In "'03 Bonnie and Clyde", JAY rapped about Bey's "Carrie fever". Both names would be classic choices for girl twins.

8

Gloria And Adnes

JAY-Z name drops both his parents, Gloria and Adnis, in the song "December 4th." Though he didn't have a relationship with his dad for much of his life, the Daily Mail reported that JAY reconciled with his father shortly before his death. Naming the babies after them would be a great way to honor the grandparents.

9

Pablo And Leonardo

JAY-Z touted his taste in fine art in the song "Picasso Baby." He name drops tons of artists and designers, so why not draw on them for baby name inspiration? Pablo Picasso and Leonardo da Vinci would make great namesakes.
