My parents were married when they were 21 years old and nearly 35 years later, they are still together. But they will also be the first to tell you that they have no flipping idea how they did it. After all, they were young, financially unstable, and had every odd stacked against them when yours truly arrived less than a year after they tied the knot. Of course, if they had been in Hollywood, they would have been screwed. After all, there is a long list of celebrities who divorced so fast, you probably missed their marriage altogether.
Yes, the odds are against celebs, according to statistics. The likelihood of a first marriage lasting at least a decade was 68 percent for women and 70 percent for men between 2006 and 2010, according to the National Survey of Family Growth. Another 2016 study by TIME showed that women tend to stay in their first marriage if they get married after the age of 26 and the union is financially stable.
But something tells me the cash flow paired with Vegas outings and fast lifestyle that can only come with being a celebrity might also have something to do with it. Just a hunch.
Clocking in at just 55 hours of marriage, this pair had to be in the top spot on this list. Spears married her childhood friend Alexander during a Vegas ceremony in 2004, but had paper work in motion by the next afternoon to have the marriage annulled, according to Rolling Stone.
The couple annulled their marriage just two weeks after being married in April 2004. But nearly seven years later, Lopez admitted to Howard Stern that he had cheated on Landry during his bachelor party, reported Us Weekly. "That was a situation where I was not mature and man enough," he told Stern.
Just 72 days after Kim K. married the NBA player, she filed for divorce. During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she said, "I knew on the honeymoon it wasn’t going to work out.”
The duo married in a secret oceanside ceremony in 2005, only to file for divorce four months later. The couple released a joint statement, People reported, saying that “the miscommunication of the objective of their marriage at the start is the only reason for this annulment."
There aren't a lot of details about why the pair split in 2007. But in an interview with Howard Stern, Cooper said about his four-month marriage: "It was just something that happened. The good thing is, we both realized it ... Sometimes you just realize it. It just wasn't right. It's interesting ... Things happen!"
The couple divorced after just nine months of marriage. Judd later told Us Weekly that he struggled with being in the limelight, adding, "Your privacy is breached. You're no longer a normal person. [Our wedding] was a circus."
The former costars met on the set of the WB drama One Tree Hill and tied the knot in April 2005, only to part ways five months later. Bush said during an interview on Watch What Happens Live, "We were two stupid kids who had no business being in a relationship in the first place."
Barrymore was only 19 when she married Thomas in 1994, noted POPSUGAR. The pair — who had only dated for six weeks before getting hitched — divorced after less than two months of marriage.
In 2008, the two exchanged vows in a sunset ceremony on New Year’s Day on a private French Polynesian island, according to People. But the couple called it quits just two weeks later.
In July 1975, The Goddess of Pop and Allman were married in a Vegas ceremony, just days after her divorce from Sonny Bono. Cher filed for divorce nine days later when Allman's substance abuse reportedly became too much to handle, noted Entertainment Weekly. The pair did reconcile a month later, leading to Cher becoming pregnant with the couple's son, Elijah Blue. They split for good in 1977.
After six months of marriage, the former Baywatch star reportedly wrote Salomon an email in which she detailed the reasons for their divorce, including, "We are not compatible sexually. I'm frustrated and bored," reported Daily Mail.
Yes, Barrymore makes this list twice — this time around with her marriage to Tom Green. The pair parted in 2001 after nine months of marriage, but they simply stated "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their divorce, according to E! News. In a statement released to the press, Barrymore said, "Yes, it is true we have decided to part. I love Tom very much. He has always been a great friend and that won't change." Green, on the other hand, said, "Drew is a wonderful woman, I love her very much. I wish our marriage could have worked out; I wish her much happiness."
Oh, hi again, Pam. This time around, Anderson went for it in terms of celebrating her marriage, hosting four ceremonies with the rocker throughout July 2006, according to People. But she filed for divorce just four months later.
The pair was married in India in October 2010, but parted ways after just 14 months of marriage. In 2013, Perry told Vogue that Brand told her via text of his plans to divorce her. And, yet, she said: "I still am madly in love with him. All I can say about that relationship is that he's got a beautiful mind."
You most likely missed this split for one very specific reason — it took place in 1919. But it didn't last beyond their wedding night, so it was a must on this list. Plus, the silent film stars' romance is loaded with scandal, including a lesbian love triangle and Acker locking Valentino out of their hotel room, keeping them from consummating their marriage, according to POPSUGAR.
