9 Signs You & Your Partner Will Say "I Do"

by Ni'Kesia Pannell

For many people, the ultimate goal of dating is to be married some day. Being with the person you love is a great feeling. And when the feeling of overwhelming love comes, you may be ready to take it to the next step. But how do you know that the person you're with may be "the one?" Of course, feeling the love is one thing, but there are many other signs you and your partner are meant to get married that you can go by too.

I personally think that, when it comes to marriage, there is no time limit on when you should do it. I known people who realized they were ready to marry someone after only dating for six months, and I know people who didn't decide until three years into a relationship. When you're in love and you're sure that the person you're with is the one, then you should be free to act however you two feel is right.

If you're in a space where you're trying to decide whether the one you're with is the one you should spend the rest of your life with, try considering these nine signs to help you with the process.

1

You Have Respect For One Another

According to eHarmony, having a mutual respect is imperative for a healthy relationship. Therefore, if you have that with your partner, you're one step closer to having a positive marriage.

2

You Are Able To Compromise When It Comes To Each Other

One of the most aspects of finding someone who is "marriage material" is the ability to compromise with each other. Whether it's traveling to a certain destination or eating a specific restaurant for dinner, a two-way compromise in your relationship is a necessity that leads to confirmation of a positive marriage.

3

You Tell Each Other Your Deepest Secrets

Cosmopolitan noted that if you and your partner share your deepest secrets with one another, this is a sign that you're meant to be together. Being able to trust your partner and let them in on the things that make you uncomfortable proves that they could very well be the one.

4

You're Able To Work Through Your Disagreements

There's no better feeling than to be able to work through an argument with your lover. Arguments in relationships are inevitable, but having the maturity and enough love to work through them without tarnishing your relationship is a key that you may be with the person you're supposed to marry.

5

You Don't Question The Love

According to Lifehack, not having to question the love in your relationship is a great way to know that this relationship will lead to marriage. Not only does it prove that you are secure in your relationship, it shows that you two are happy.

6

You Get Along With Each Other's Friends & Families

If you fit in well with your significant other's friends and family, then they could very well be the one you should marry. In most situations, the opinions of your loved ones matter when it comes to choosing your partner. So, being able to fit in like you're apart of the gang and vice versa, is a great indicator.

7

You Can Be Yourself Around Them

Thought Catalog noted that you have to be able to be yourself around the person you want to marry. Not being self-conscious, anxious, or standoffish with your mate is a feeling that everyone should experience.

8

You're Both OK With Showing Your Weaknesses

Showing your weaknesses in a relationship lets your partner know that you trust them. From exposing your fears to letting them know what your shortcomings are, having someone willing to support you through those is a sign that marriage is a good option with them.

9

You Both See A Future With Each Other

According to Lifehack, being able to imagine your future together is an indicator for marriage. When the conversations go from you solely speaking about yourself in the future to including them in your plans, this shows that may be considering marriage with them.
