The Best BBC Toddler Press Conference Memes

by Casey Suglia

If only I could have as much swagger as Marion Kelly, known to the masses as the young girl who adorably interrupted her dad's video conference with the BBC on Friday. On Wednesday, the Kelly family held a press conference to explain the now-viral video that launched the unlikely interview crashers to fame. And while the initial interruption was hilarious, the BBC toddler press conference memes that followed were even funnier.

The press conference, which was streamed live from South Korea where the Kelly family lives, was conducted so that dad, Robert Kelly, could address some major concerns, compliments, and criticisms that came out of the very live moment last Friday. During the press conference Robert answered some pretty burning questions that arose from the video — no, he was not trying to push his children out of the way in the video and yes, he was wearing pants during his appearance on television. But the true star of the press conference, just like in the viral video, was 4-year-old Marion, who looked absolutely adorable and press conference ready in her khaki trench coat (and who spent more time concerned with her lollipop than with what her father was saying).

Marion's appearance in the press conference was enough to create some pretty hilarious memes and tweets all its own:

While Marion definitely stole the show from her father, the video did attract some criticism and controversy. In spite of all of this, Robert was reluctant yet grateful for the well wishers from that video, thanking supporters in an official statement on his family's website:

My family and I would like to thank our many well-wishers. We are just a regular family and raising two young children can be a lot of work. Because of that, it seems as if this video has resonated with parents around the world, and we are flattered at the gentle sentiments about our children. Thank you. We love them very much, and we are happy that our family blooper brought laughter to so many.

Robert is right — his family blooper did bring laughter to so many and most importantly, introduced to world to Marion Kelly, an icon in her own right. Marion, according to an interview with the Wall Street Journal, was in a "hippity hoppity mood" when she interrupted her father in that bright yellow sweater and adorable glasses.

The Kelly family might be experiencing their 15 minutes of viral fame but Marion's swagger and confidence is something that lovers of the video will never forget. Now if only I could get out of bed in the morning with the same confidence of Marion Kelly.
