Toddler Asking Mom Where Obama Went Is All Of Us

by Kaitlin Kimont

Even though it’s been more than five months since President Donald Trump took office, a lot of us are still trying to wrap our heads around how it all happened. And that includes one confused 5-year-old girl who has some serious questions about the current political situation the nation is in at the moment. In an adorable series of Instagram videos that have since gone viral, a confused and extremely inquisitive toddler asks her mom “where did Barack Obama go?” as well as several other hard-hitting questions about the 2016 presidential election. And honestly, this little girl’s confusion is too relatable.

According to her mother — whose Instagram handle is @tabgeezy — this line of questioning all started because her daughter, Taylor, wanted to know where the president lives and where and why Obama had to leave the White House.

“This all started because she wanted to know, Where did Barack Obama go? And where is the president’s house. She is still mad,” her mother captioned the first of three videos she posted.

“Why do we have another president?” Taylor asked her mom. “So, why did he go? Where did he go? So, why do we have the president we have now at the same spot [Obama] was and why did he leave it anyway?”

“Because a president can only do two terms,” her mother answered.

Taylor continued to press her mom for more answers.

“But, how come Hillary [Clinton] did not get to be the president and why is she the loser? And what are they even supposed to be winning?” she asked.

Her mother replies with a hint of laughter, "They get to be the president of the United States."

This back-and-forth quickly turned into a lesson on how voting works, a concept Taylor was familiar since she explained that she's done it school before (and voted for pizza over chocolate chip cookies — a fine choice, indeed). Taylor desperately tries to understand how more people could've voted for Trump as her mothers begins to explain how the electoral college works.

"Well, actually, more people... it's a long story," her mother said.

Taylor begrudgingly begins to accept that Trump is the president, but is still upset that he lives in the White House (well, when he's not in Florida) and that he has the job to begin with.

"I don't want him to be our president anyway. I want Hillary and Barack Obama," Taylor replied after her mom asked her who she wants to be president.

In the final video, her mom wrote in the caption that Taylor asked her if she could watch the news with her so "she can learn all the things I know."

All in all, this toddler's frustration regarding the current POTUS, Obama's whereabouts, and the complexities of politics is adorably relatable. And one day, she'll know just how many people agree with her.
