Does 'The Bachelor' Winner Always Have Sex In The Fantasy Suite? Not All The Time

by Casey Suglia

We're down to the Final Three on The Bachelor and one step closer to Bachelor Ben Higgins to finding his future wife. That means we at the episode where Ben will get to know his contestants a little bit better in the way that all fans of Bachelor Nation know to be true. It comes in the form of a card offering the fantasy suite — a place where the Bachelor and his final three contestants can get to know one another without cameras or Bachelor host Chris Harrison breathing down their backs. However, nowadays the fantasy suite is also kind of synonymous with sex. But does The Bachelor winner always have sex in the fantasy suite? According to former contestants, not all the time.

In years past, during the semi-final episode of The Bachelor, the three final contestants are whisked away to some exotic locale where they spend one-on-one time with the Bachelor himself. After enjoying dinner together, the Bachelor and his contestant are presented with the option of going to the fantasy suite, which is exactly what it sounds like. The fantasy suite is a separate room in the resort decorated with rose petals and a bottle of champagne. There is also a bed so...you get the idea.

However, the winner of The Bachelor doesn't always have sex in the Fantasy Suite.

Bachelor Sean Lowe was particularly vocal about being celibate during his time on the show, waiting until marriage with Season 17 winner and now-wife, Catherine Giuduci to finally have sex. Season 8 Bachelorette Emily Maynard did not go into the fantasy suite with any of her final three contestants out of respect for her younger daughter before picking winner Jef Holm.

But just because there is a fantasy suite doesn't mean that all of the contestants who enter must have sex. The fantasy suite serves as a way for the Bachelor and contestants to get to know one another without the watchful eye of cameras. Season 11 and Season 15 Bachelor Brad Womack told People.com that the night is perfect for talking off camera.

"I had gotten to know the women so very well and I wanted to feel confident in the fact that, after talking with each of them all night, I knew exactly what type of woman each of them is," Womack said. "I wanted to be confident that I actually knew these women as well as I thought I did. The overnight dates actually gave me quite a bit of clarity – clarity that I had been looking for! "

That being said, there have been plenty of winners who have used the fantasy suite to their advantage, getting to know the bachelors and bachelorettes on a multitude of levels. Season 6 Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky was quoted in saying that she only had sex with the person she knew was for her, former fiance Roberto Martinez.

"I will say this much, I only got physical with one person. I think its pretty obvious who that was!" Fedotowsky said. "...Are you going to get engaged to someone without knowing what they are like in bed? No!"

Bachelor creator, Mike Fleiss admitted in a 20/20 episode that there is sex on The Bachelor. "Theres not a ton of it," Fleiss said. "I think the average guy will end up having sex with about three woman through the course of the show."

While the fantasy suite is a great place to have some alone time, it does not mean that all contestants and winners of the show have to have sex to be considered a winner. It just means that they're entitled to get to know one another in a variety of ways and there is nothing wrong with that.
