How Many Kids Does Katherine Heigl Have? The Actress Is Expecting A New Baby In January

by Becky Bracken

Katherine Heigel just announced exclusively to People magazine that she's pregnant. She and husband and musician, Josh Kelley are expecting a boy in January, according to the couple's statement released to People. But this isn't Heigl and Kelly's, who have been married for eight years, first kiddo. How many kids does Katherine Heigl have? This new baby will bring the number of kids in her brood to three.

Heigl already has two adopted daughters. The oldest daughter, Naleigh Moon, is 7, and Alelaide Marie Hope is 4, and it sounds like the two little ladies are super excited about the addition of kiddo number three.

Here's Heigl's statement, according to People:

The Kelley clan is thrilled to announce that we are expecting a third addition to our family. Naleigh and Adelaide could not be more excited to welcome their new sibling into the fold and Josh and I are overflowing with joy and gratitude.
This is an incredibly exciting time for us filled with hope, anticipation, and hormones. Well, only I’m filled with hormones, but everyone in the family gets to enjoy them. We couldn’t be more excited to be able to finally share this news with our fans and are looking forward to continuing to share the journey with you all. xoxo, Katie and Josh.

Here's a cute snap of Heigl and her girls enjoying a little sun and fun at the pool.

Heigl made the decision to adopt before having biological children because adoption was a big part of her life growing up. Her parents adopted her sister Meg from South Korea before Heigl was born. It was a huge factor in Heigl's decision to adopt Naleigh from the same country.

She gave an interview in 2010 to Us Magazine after adopting Naleigh and said she was considering adopting another baby before conceiving. In 2012, Heigl and Kelly adopted Adelaide as a newborn.

"We still talk about having biological children as well," Heigl told Us Magazine in 2010, showing she's always had a master family plan. "I'm not ruling anything out." But, she added, "adoption has been a part of my life and a part of my family, so it was how I wanted to start."

Now that she's all practiced up, baby No. three should be a snap.

As for the name of her little boy, odds are, you can expect Heigl to pick something with a family connection. According to Perez Hilton, Naleigh's name is a combo of Heigl's mom's name, Nancy, and Leigh, her sister's middle name. Adelaide's name has similarly lovely family roots.

"...because of my great-grandmother, Marie after my middle name, and Hope because that is what the process became."

It's clear Heigl won't give up on a creative, unique name for the third addition to her family.
