How To Watch 'The Wiz' The Movie After The Live Show

We all know there's no place like home. Except for when Netflix isn't streaming your favorite movies. And such is the case with The Wiz, the 1978 musical starring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson, which might be considered a critical flop, but a Motown legend. You may be especially inspired to watch it after The Wiz: Live!, a remake of the movie based on L. Frank Baum's Wizard of Oz, airs on NBC Thursday night. NBC went all out to offer viewers a spectacular version of this family fave with The Wiz: Live! At 8/7 p.m. central on Dec. 3, expect to bow down to Queen Latifah in the role of the Wiz; be mesmerized by Mary J. Blige as Evillene, the Wicked Witch of the West; charmed by Uzo Aduba as Glinda the Good Witch; have some laughs at David Alan Grier as the Cowardly Lion, and enjoy Ne-Yo as the Tin Man, Elijah Kelley as the Scarecrow, but especially feast your eyes and ears on Common as the Bouncer/Gatekeeper of the Emerald City.

The cast of this live TV performance is what producers are banking on to bring viewers. Said executive producer Craig Zadan to EW.com, “The star-driven nature of these events is something that’s a big motor ... we wanted to do something that was cooler and hipper and contemporary. And something that had a lot of stars.”

Between Mary J., Queen Latifiah, Uzo Aduba, oh, and did I mention Common, that's quite a lineup. Let's remember, though, that the Motown flick had some pretty glittery stars as well; I mean, this was Michael Jackson's film debut.
