Eva Mendes' Oscars Whereabouts Are Uncertain

by Kathleen Walsh

We all know that Ryan Gosling is one of the main attractions of the 2017 Oscars for his film La La Land, but it's unclear whether or not he'll be bringing his best girl. Is Eva Mendes at the 2017 Oscars? She wasn't able to come to the Golden Globes, but it's unclear whether or not she'll be able to make it to Hollywood's biggest night: the Oscars.

At the Golden Globes, widely recognized as Hollywood's second biggest night, Gosling attended stag, as Mendes was unable to make it. As Gosling made clear during his acceptance speech, this has been one hell of a year for her. She's been busy raising two young daughters as well as supporting her brother Juan Carlos Mendes through his battle with cancer.

In his Golden Globes acceptance speech, Gosling specifically called out Mendes in the most beautiful way possible. "I would like to try to thank one person properly and say while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I've ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer. If she hadn't have taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. So, sweetheart, thank you. To my daughters, Amada and Esmeralda, I love you." You know, in case any of you forgot about Feminist Ryan Gosling.

As was remarked on in a story in Vogue, Mendes and Gosling are an extremely private couple as far as celebrity romances go. They are hardly ever photographed in public, and aside from one appearance on the red carpet at the premiere of The Place Beyond the Pines, they have never actually attended an event together. If Mendes does come to the Oscars with Gosling, it will definitely be a major red carpet moment that we will probably all talk about to death.

It makes sense, especially in such a tumultuous time in their lives, for Mendes and Gosling to try and keep their romance fairly low-key. Celebrity marriages are tabloid gold, and constant speculation cannot help but be a major strain on any relationship. Perhaps Mendes will not join Gosling on the red carpet, keeping their relationship low profile as usual. I honestly can't fault her for this. And clearly, no matter where she is at this moment, she's supporting her man.
