Luke Cage Could Show Up On 'Iron Fist'

by Zakiya Jamal

At the end of Luke Cage, Luke was heading off to prison after his real identity was discovered. Obviously he gets out somehow since he's going to be in The Defenders but the question is: how? Some fans believe that question may be answered during the latest Netflix Marvel series Iron Fist, which is the last Defender show until the whole team (Iron Fist, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage) comes together. So is Luke Cage in Iron Fist or are fans just getting their hopes up?

According to IMDB, Mike Colter who plays Luke Cage, is not credited as being in Iron Fist, however, it wouldn't be surprising if the show was keeping his appearance in the show under wraps. The showrunners would want it to be a surprise and even if Luke Cage is in the show, it'd probably only be for a brief moment, like those after credit scenes Marvel movies use to entice fans to see the next film. Therefore it's possible Colter may not even be credited in the show, so don't give up hope just yet. Plus, there is one clue that indicates Luke will make an appearance.

While Colter's not listed in the Iron Fist credits, Simone Missick who plays Detective Misty Knight on the show, is. She's only listed as appearing in one episode on IMDB but that's enough to suggest that either Iron Fist, a.k.a. Danny Rand, makes his way up to Harlem for some reason or she'll be seen helping Luke get out of jail. Add in the fact that Rosario Dawson is once again reprising her role as Claire Temple, and the odds of a Luke Cage rescue mission seems even higher. Especially since Claire is now Luke's love interest.

If Luke doesn't make an appearance in Iron Fist, something else will probably happen that hints to the Defenders coming together. As the final show before the team up, it seems unlikely that the show will just end without some kind of mention of what will bring these vigilantes together. That doesn't seem like Marvel's style and based on the promotional photos for Iron Fist, it's clear connections are already being made.

Lawyer Jeri Hogarth from Jessica Jones appears to be Danny Rand's lawyer and Madame Gao from Daredevil also shows up on the series. It definitely seems like Iron Fist is laying the foundation for The Defenders and a Luke Cage appearance would fit right in.

You can see for yourself if Luke shows his face when Iron Fist premieres on Netflix on Friday, March 17.
