Jessa Duggar Welcomes Baby No. 2

They're nowhere near the double digits, but People reported Monday that reality TV star Jessa Duggar welcomed her second child with Ben Seewald. Having been introduced to the world on the TLC phenomenon 19 Kids and Counting, Duggar is now "thankful to God for this precious new gift of life," and excited that her son, Spurgeon, now has a baby brother. The couple has not yet shared the name of the newest member of the giant extended family — but what really matters, for now, is that she and the baby are both "doing well," as they said in a statement.

Duggar, 24, and Seeward, 21, married in November 2014, and Spurgeon is now 14 months old. One of the most exciting parts about having a second baby for the couple was to give the little boy a sibling — a role that Duggar herself has played many times over, as her family achieved reality show stardom because of its huge size. "We are overjoyed to announce that Spurgeon has a new title in life as 'big brother!' We are so thankful that God is adding to our family," the pair said in a statement.

But the couple had the family guessing as to whether Sprurgeon would soon become a big brother to a little brother or a little sister in a recent TLC interview.

19 Kids and Counting ended abruptly in 2015, after ten wildly successful seasons, amid the revelations that the parents had covered up the fact that their oldest son, Josh Duggar, had inappropriately touched girls in the family home more than a decade before. But fans of the show hadn't seen the end of the famous clan, as the oldest siblings, including Jessa, are participating in a spinoff of the series called Jill & Jessa: Counting On.

And, coincidentally, the episode during which the couple (and a couple of Duggar's sisters) learn the sex of the baby at an ultrasound appointment airs Monday, the baby's actual birthday. Asked at the time why she decided to keep the sex from most of her family members, Duggar explained:

Because we like to torture people. No, I'm kidding! It's just fun … We both guessed 'boy' when we found out we were expecting, but Ben changed his guess to a girl. The ultrasound is a really exciting time — you know there's a little life growing inside.

Shortly before, TLC filmed Duggar's baby shower, where they opted to donate supplies to an Arkansas pregnancy resource center called Loving Choices:

In December, Duggar's sister Jill announced that she and her husband, Derick Dillard, are expecting their second child as well. Yet another new addition to the Duggar family is due in July, according to CNN. Congratulations to the next generation of Duggars as they count on!
