Inspiring Mark Zuckerberg Quotes About Fatherhood That'll Motivate You To Make The World A Better Place

Hailed as one of the most successful men on Earth, the proud creator of Facebook has also created two beautiful little lives with his wife, Priscilla Chan. But his title of "dad" might take the cake. Over the years, Mark Zuckerberg has said a lot about fatherhood and time after time, he's shown that he's passionate about the future of the world's children — even more so than our work — as they are the greatest legacy we leave behind. Between the interviews that he's given with the media and the open letters that he's penned to his children, Zuckerberg has imparted numerous nuggets of fatherly wisdom since welcoming his firstborn and they all have a central message.

After struggling through the pain of several miscarriages, Zuckerberg and his wife had their first daughter, Maxima, in 2015. The two announced the birth of their second daughter, August, on — appropriately — Aug. 28 over Facebook. In the announcement, Zuckerberg also included an endearing open letter to baby August outlining the couple's hopes for her life and sharing their love for the newest addition to their family.

The letter inspired a number of comments on the post, praising Zuckerberg for his loving words and commitment to his family. This is not the first time that the father of two has shared his love for family and childrearing. His quotes about fatherhood show that he takes the gig very seriously and is dedicated to making a better world for those to come.

On The Pride Associated With Parenthood

While speaking at a college townhall, Zuckerberg explained how fatherhood has changed the way he does business and the way he looks at life in general. Despite his many noteworthy accomplishments, this hoody-wearing Harvard dropout considers his family to be his greatest accomplishment. According to CNBC, he said:

The thing that I'm most proud of and the thing that brings me the most happiness, is my family.

On The Importance Of Creating A Better World For Future Generations

Zuckerberg has made it clear that he has a mind for the future. Since becoming a parent, he has turned this mind to his — and everyone's — children. In his Facebook announcement of Chan's pregnancy, the proud dad said:

We've already been so fortunate for the opportunity to touch people's lives around the world. Now we'll focus on making the world a better place for our child and the next generation.

On The Responsibility To Create A Better World

Zuckerberg has posted open letters to each of his daughters over Facebook after their births. After the arrival of Max, he outlined the issues that he expects the next generation to face, as well as a promise to do what he can to solve them. He closed with a comment on this responsibility:

Max, we love you and feel a great responsibility to leave the world a better place for you and all children. We wish you a life filled with the same love, hope and joy you give us. We can't wait to see what you bring to this world.

On The Importance Of Enjoying Childhood

In today's fast-paced world, it is important to remember to slow down and enjoy every step of the growing process. In his letter to August that the proud dad shared on Facebook, he explained the need to live in the moment as a child, and again reiterated his devotion to making a good life for her:

But rather than write about growing up, we want to talk about childhood. The world can be a serious place. That's why it's important to make time to go outside and play ... Childhood is magical. You only get to be a child once, so don't spend it worrying too much about the future. You've got us for that, and we'll do everything we possibly can to make sure the world is a better place for you and all children in your generation.

There is a constant message throughout all of Zuckerberg's musings on parenthood: children are our legacy and we need to do what we can to make the world a better place for them. His love and dedication to his family serves to power this passion for progress. Welcome to the world, baby August — your dad has big plans for you.
