There's relatively very few perks to being in the public eye, compared with all the drama it brings. While being on television might seem like an easy gig, there's nothing easy about raising your kids in the spotlight, or going through any sort of personal struggle while cameras follow your every move. So is the case with Christina and Tarek El Moussa, the stars of HGTV's Flip or Flop. While their divorce is still in the works, the couple has reunited to continue filming their hit show, and have continued to be involved parents. And these photos of Christina and Tarek El Moussa with their kids prove that no matter what, being their for their kids is a parent's most important job.
The couple opened up to People last December, informing readers that they had been separated since May 2016. Following a domestic incident in which Tarek reportedly fled the house with a gun, the two decided to take some time apart, something they felt was "in the best interests of the children and the best way to determine a path forward.” (The Tarek's representative hasn't responded to Romper's request for comment regarding the incident.) They also disclosed that they "plan to continue our professional life together by being professional, by doing our jobs well, by being prepared and by working hard," no matter what relationship issues they have gone through.
"The most difficult part of the decision to separate was the kids," the couple told People. "We want the best for them, and we’re doing everything we can to ensure that." While both Christina and Tarek have revealed that they've dated since the separation, neither has confirmed a serious relationship.
The El Moussa's children, 1-year-old Brayden, and 6-year-old Taylor, are definitely at the center of the parents' concerns following the split. In fact, both Christina and Tarek spoke to The New York Times about at all the attention their relationship was getting.
"We’re house flippers on HGTV," Tarek said. "Come on. That’s not celebrity."
"When does it end?" Christina wondered. "Some of these stories really hurt my feelings and disgust me. So much is untrue." And seriously, it's really nobody's business but the El Moussa's how their family is getting along.
With two kids, and several successful businesses, Christina and Tarek El Moussa have proven that they can take whatever comes their way with a grain of salt, and always remember that their kids are one of their first priorities.
