Fall may signify the return of football for some, but for me it means my television obsession goes into full-on overdrive. Yes, this is partially due to the return of numerous fan-favorite TV shows, but it also has to do with the fact that the Emmy Awards season is finally upon us. So who came out on top and who walked away from the evening without a coveted statuette? The 2017 Emmy Awards winners prove once again that the world of television — much like a fine wine — only continues to get better with age.
Game of Thrones is out of the running for any Emmys this year thanks to its delayed production schedule (winter needed to come and all that), but that doesn't mean the ceremony isn't still well worth watching. In fact, the absence of our favorite Westeros gang allows other equally impressive shows the opportunity to shine — a chance they may not have been given had Thrones been in the running. Plus it's not as if HBO isn't still be thoroughly represented, thanks to highly success projects like Big Little Lies and Westworld. And, of course, there's a ton of Netflix shows, such as Stranger Things and House of Cards, who will undoubtedly see some much-deserved love before the night is through.
But enough about who could win, when we should actually be discussing who did win. Check out the full list of nominees and each of their respective winners (which will be bolded in each category) below.
This post will continue to be updated throughout the night.
