The Best Hobbies For Every Astrological Sign

by Sarah Bunton

Is it any wonder there are so many sayings about destiny and the stars? Quotes like, "if the stars align," or, "it's not in the stars," and, "it's written in the stars," all imply this mystical sense of cosmic fate. You don't have to be a (tarot) card-carrying member of some astrology club to think that the zodiac has some influence over your personality. Plenty of people read their horoscopes for fun. And, speaking of fun, if you're looking for a new way to pass the time, consider the best hobbies for you, based on your astrological sign.

You might be able to make some educated guesses right off the bat about which signs of the zodiac will or won't like aquatic activities. But the reasons go beyond whether or not the symbol for your sign is a fish or not. Like many aspects of astrology, a lot has to do with your inner nature, who you are at your core. Are you fearless, kind, wild, introverted, or somewhere in between? If you're not sure, there's no need to worry. Check out these best hobbies for you according to your astrological sign to find your next adventure. You might just end up discovering something that turns into a lifelong endeavor.

Aries (March 21 to April 19)

Represented by the rambunctious ram, the first sign of the zodiac is definitely ready to go. According to Astrology, Aries, "are happiest in a spirited soccer match or engaging in the martial arts." This makes sense since this sign is known for being quite active.

Taurus (April 20 to May 20)

In astrology, each sign is associated with a certain element — fire, water, air, and earth. As an earth sign, a Taurus is all about interacting with the physical world, as What's Your Sign noted. You might want to take up wine tasting, pottery classes, or anything that engages your senses.

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)

Represented by twins, the third sign of the zodiac is all about embracing both sides of the coin. According to Astrology Zodiac Signs, "Gemini is concerned with all aspects of the mind." Joining a book club or going to academic lectures could turn out to be your new thing.

Cancer (June 21 to July 22)

You might think that this crabby sign would be a hermit, but that's not always the case. The fourth sign of the zodiac is actually quite in tune with their emotions, but they often have trouble working through them. That's why, according to Astrology, "Cancers find that a robust workout session is just the tonic for their touchy feelings." Maybe taking up flag football or hockey will be a good way to get out those pent-up feelings.

Leo (July 23 to Aug. 22)

Connected with the lion, Leo is obviously known for being bold, as Astrology Zodiac Signs noted. Tapping into that outgoing personality, you might enjoy trying out for a part in a local theater production or open mic night at your favorite night spot.

Virgo (Aug. 23 to Sept. 22)

The sixth sign of the zodiac is often depicted as a kind maiden. According to What's Your Sign, a Virgo is compassionate and cares deeply. Taking up a cause, like animal rights or political issues, could fill your heart right up.

Libra (Sept. 23 to Oct. 22)

Finding harmony is incredibly important to the sign which is represented by scales. Many people feel a sense of balance in nature. As Astrology noted, "Libras love the outdoors, so hiking and biking can prove fun." Plus, enjoying nature is a great way to clear your mind.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 to Nov. 21)

I'm a bit biased since I'm a Scorpio and like to think of myself as a bit of a mysterious daredevil. As it turns out, "Scorpio's can feel right at home in odd realms," according to What's Your Sign. So whatever quirky hobby you've been wanting to take up (playing Dungeons and Dragons or stargazing in the middle of nowhere) may not be so weird after all.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 to Dec. 21)

Often regarded as a wanderer, Sagittarius is all about discovering new cultures, as Astrology Zodiac Signs noted. You never know if you'll like something until you try it, right? So your new hobby could be trying out exotic cuisines or attending artistic events. You might even get a museum membership.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 to Jan. 19)

According to Astrology, the goat half of Capricorn represents a willingness to work hard and the fish half shows a relaxed side, content with letting the current carry them. So, a hobby that's a bit physical but not too tiring would be ideal. Yoga, golfing, or bird-watching might be right up your alley.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 to Feb. 18)

Being a highly emotional sign, Astrology Zodiac Signs noted that an Aquarian doesn't like to be alone. This doesn't mean you have to become a party animal, of course. But if you join a club, attend city hall meetings, or do anything involving the community, you'll probably feel right at home.

Pisces (Feb. 19 to March 20)

Since this is the last sign of the zodiac, it's no surprise they are a culmination of their predecessors and highly sensitive. Being so in touch with their feelings, a Pisces enjoys self-care and recharging their batteries, according to What's Your Sign. Though some might not consider it a hobby, getting regular massages, facials, or some kind of personal treat can totally count.
