Not many people thought it would happen, but it happened. On Tuesday night, Donald Trump won the 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency of the United States and was declared the presumptive President-Elect of the United States — surprising, I know. And the transcript of Donald Trump's victory speech shows that even he was surprised at the results.

Donald Trump may be the victor, but it wasn't an easy path to get here. Hillary Clinton was ahead in the polls for much of the election season — even when scandals broke loose. Think of all of the pain and the strife throughout the campaign season that has brought us to this moment. It seems that all of the lies that Trump has told hold much more promise than Clinton's future for American voters. Although Trump remained confident throughout the majority of the campaign season, campaign forecasters like Nate Silver determined a Clinton presidency. But a Clinton presidency is no longer an option now that Trump has won the majority of the vote. From his victory party at the Hilton Midtown Manhattan in New York City, Trump and his team watched as the results rolled in and the states declared Trump the victor. And it's there, at the Hilton Midtown, where Trump gave his victory speech.

At that point, Reince Preibus took the mic from Trump and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, the next President of the United States, Donald Trump. Thank you, it's been an honor, God bless, thank God."

Then Trump continued:

What follows this speech will certainly be worth watching. The nation waits with baited breath to see just how Trump handles this title. The people are watching, and the people are waiting.
