What Is Angelina Jolie's Net Worth? The Star Is Incredibly Financially Independent

by Allison Piwowarski

Believe it or not, it is an end of an era. After a very publicized beginning and middle of their relationship, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are reportedly divorcing, making this an equally publicized end to their marriage. While there are a lot of questions regarding the reason behind their split, there's one thing you really may be wondering about — what is going to happen to the children, and the money. There's no doubt that the Jolie/Pitt family is high-earning, but Angelina Jolie's net worth proves that without Pitt as a partner, she will be just fine financially.

TMZ broke the news Tuesday morning, noting that it was Jolie who was filing the legal documents for "irreconcilable differences." (Romper reached out to both Jolie and Pitt's representation for comment, but did not hear back at the time of publication.) While the buzz surrounding the couples split will certainly light the way for rumors to come, we can't really say who is to blame (if there is blame to be had), what the reasons are, or why this is all happening. What we do know, though, is that this is undoubtedly a difficult time for the two, and their six children.

Update: While both parties will undoubtedly want to keep their personal life private during this time, Pitt did release a statement to People and said the following:

This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time.

Jolie's attorney, Robert Offer, offered this statement to Reuters:

"This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."

We'll have to find out what will happen regarding the custody of the children as each party speaks out regarding the news, but for now you may be wondering what Jolie's net worth is (since money is always a huge part of any couple's split.)

According to Time, as of June 2016, the actor, director, and philanthropist was worth an astounding $160 million. The publication reports that the 41-year-old star earned a large chunk of money from Maleficent, an estimated $33 million. Time notes that Jolie is one of the richest actresses of all time.

Brad Pitt, like his former spouse, is doing very well for himself. Forbes notes that Pitt is worth a grand $240 million. Again, certainly nothing to scoff at.

CNN reports that, despite rumors of an ugly celebrity divorce ahead, a source confirmed to the outlet that "both sides want a cordial breakup." Hopefully that is what occurs, since the couple does have six children. We'll have to watch this story unfold, but as for now, it seems that Jolie — no matter what she does after officially splitting from Pitt — will be just fine financially.
