'Jane The Virgin' Is Going Away For A Little While
It's time to say goodbye to the Villanueva's... again. Although the show was just off the air for the past two weeks, this new episode will actually be the last one for a while because it's serving as the midseason finale. So when does Jane the Virgin return from its winter hiatus? Fortunately, the wait won't be too long.
The fourth season of Jane the Virgin will pick back up on Friday, Jan. 26 at 9 p.m. EST on The CW, which means the hiatus will only last for a little over a month and a half, which isn't too bad. We can totally handle this. Unless, the midseason finale has a twisty cliffhanger at the end, and this show certainly loves to throw its fans for a loop. However, the revelation that Anezka is dead came in the previous episode, so perhaps Friday night's episode won't be so surprising.
Speaking of Anezka, although she was found hanging in the Marbella, the narrator made it clear that she didn't kill herself but rather that she was murdered, which of course begs the question: who killed her? Unfortunately, the list of suspects is long, especially because Anezka and her mother, Magda, recently made it seem like Luisa was suffering from hallucinations so they could steal the hotel. Due to the fact that Petra found Anezka, it seems like she couldn't be the killer, but I guess anything's possible on this show. The most likely suspects are probably Magda, and their partner, Carl, who was the person they used to make Luisa think she was hallucinating.
However, I'm hesitant to completely rule out the idea that Rose somehow learned about what happened to Luisa and got someone to kill Anezka for her. An alternative theory that is Anezka's husband, Scott, didn't actually die last season and came back to exact his revenge. That, admittedly, seems like a bit of stretch though. Regardless, it would be surprising if the series revealed Anezka's killer in the midseason finale, but perhaps the real killer will be so shocking it'd be the perfect way to end off the first half of the season.
Based on the trailer, the main focus of the episode will be on the Villanueva women who are taking a little road trip for Jane's book tour. After Adam revealed to Jane that he was moving to California to pursue his dreams, breaking her heart in the process, Jane is ready to let loose and move on. Except that's easier said than done, especially when you're ex designed the book cover for the book you're currently promoting.
It looks like Jane may have a little breakdown while on tour, but hopefully with her mom and Alba by her side, she'll be able to get through it and revel in her much-deserved success. Meanwhile, Rafael and Rogelio are left at home to take care of Mateo, in what will certainly be an interesting guy's weekend. Rogelio never really bonded with Rafael like he did with Michael, but hopefully they'll be able to find some common ground and have a fun weekend with Mateo.
Based on the episode description, it seems Petra will be taking her sister's death in stride. With Anezka out of the way, Petra will start to get the hotel under control — that is until an inevitable new problem arises. Honestly, why do people still stay at the Marbella at this point? It's just not safe people!
Obviously, there's a lot happening in Friday's episode and it's definitely one you won't want to miss. So make sure to tune in to Jane the Virgin at 9 p.m. EST on The CW and see how everything plays out.
