When Does 'Star' Return? Fans Will Have To Wait For The Next Episode

Get ready to get hooked to a new musical drama! Lee Daniels, the creator of Empire, is bringing a whole new drama to FOX with his latest creation, Star. The show follows three singers, desperate for a new start and a chance at fame. The series is sure to be another hit for Daniels and fans can get their first glimpse of the show when it premieres after the Empire midseason finale on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 9 p.m. ET. However, after that, there will be a little break before the show really gets going on a regular basis. So when does Star return exactly? The first season will continue on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the same time.

In a similar vein of Sparkle and Dreamgirls, Star shows the positives and negatives of the music industry and the consequences that can come with being famous. The show centers around the three aspiring stars: Star (played by Jude Demorest), Simone (played by Brittany O'Grady), and Alexandra (played by Ryan Destiny). Star is seen as the leader of the group (as you could probably have already guessed, considering the show is named after her). After growing up in the foster care system, she's now ready to make her dreams of being a star come true. She tracks down her sister, Simone, who's also in the system and together they find Alexandra, who Star became friends with through Instagram. Together they go to Atlanta to start making their dream of becoming superstars a reality.

The show also stars Queen Latifah, who plays Star and Simone's godmother, Carlotta, who was best friends with their mother. Carlotta had her own shot at fame back in the day, but became a one hit wonder and ended up living on the streets. Based on her own experiences, she advises Star against pursuing a music career, which causes conflict between the two of them. However, Carlotta is seen as a mother figure to the trio and is there for them no matter what.

Also on the cast is Benjamin Bratt, who plays the role of Jahil, a talent agent looking to revitalize his career with a new act and ends up being the one to discover Star and the group. The legendary Lenny Kravitz also guest stars on the series.

With this good of a cast and singers, as well as a soundtrack that will surely be filled with hits, Star is set to be another successful drama for Daniels.
