Here's When The Smart Breast Pump Goes On Sale

by Korey Lane

If you're a mom, you know a mom, or you've even just seen a mom in a movie or on TV, you're probably (at least somewhat) aware of the pain, inconvenience, and struggle that comes with breastfeeding. Choosing to breastfeed your child is one of the greatest decisions you get to make as a parent, but it's also one of the most complicated processes you have to deal with. From untangling breast pump cords, to uncomfortable machines latching onto your sensitive areas, harnessing your own breast milk is a complicated task. However, the new Willow Smart Breast Pump is looking to change all of that. So, when will the new smart breast pump go on sale? Well, you won't have to wait too long, but you may have to shell out a little more than you're used to.

While typical breast pumps can retail anywhere from $25 to upwards of $300, the Willow breast pump will run closer to $400, with CNN reporting the smart pump will start at $430.

The good news? The new devices will officially hit stores this spring, and although no exact date has been given, interested buyers can sign up on the Willow website to receive more information, and be the first to know when the pump becomes available.

So, what makes Willow so different, and why should you be willing to splurge so much on a device you might only be using for a year? Well, Willow pretty much does away with anything and everything you hate about ordinary breast pumps, while also connecting to your phone, via an app, to keep you in the know about what's going on with your breast milk.

Currently, most moms have to excuse themselves to a bathroom, closet, or other closed-off area in order to pump their breast milk. It's annoying, time-consuming, and distracting for many. Willow seeks to change that. The sleek design allows users to simply slide the device under their bra and quietly pump.

Willow's new device has already been okayed by the FDA, as well as received rave reviews from the lucky few who have gotten to preview the device. At this year's Consumer Technology Association trade show, Willow truly made a splash. With less cords, easy directions, and practical pieces (like bags that pop right out of the device and can be easily stored or frozen), the Willow smart pump is a necessary change from the jumbled mess everyday breast pumps bring about.
