Alexander Skarsgard Is Heading Back To HBO

by Zakiya Jamal

Big Little Lies is HBO's latest limited series and it's based on Liane Moriarty's bestselling novel by the same name. The book follows the lives of three mothers, Madeline (played by Reese Witherspoon), Celeste (played by Nicole Kidman), and Jane (played by Shailene Woodley), who live in a beachside neighborhood and whose kids all attend the same school. They all have their own personal set of secrets, but their lives really take a turn when someone ends up dead. The cast is incredible and even includes a True Blood alum. So who does Alexander Skarsgård play on Big Little Lies? He takes on the role of Celeste's seemingly perfect husband, Perry.

Celeste is said to be an incredibly beautiful woman, according to the book description on Amazon, and she and Perry are set to become "the king and queen of the school parent body" with their twin boys starting first grade this year. However, as it is with any type of royalty, the higher Celeste and Perry climb, the harder they're likely to fall.

It'll be great seeing Skarsgård return to HBO and acting along with such an amazing cast. Since the end of True Blood, Skarsgård has made his way to the big screen. Most notably, he starred in The Legend of Tarzan as Tarzan himself, opposite to Margot Robbie who played Jane. He also appeared in the films Battleship, The Giver, The Diary of a Teenage Girl, and Zoolander 2, just to name a few. Aside from his iconic role as bad boy vampire Eric Northman on True Blood, Skarsgård has also done a few other shows, including the HBO mini-series Generation Kill. You may also recognize Skarsgård from his starring role in Lady Gaga's music video for "Paparazzi," back in 2009.

After Big Little Lies, Skarsgård is set to appear in two films next year: Hold the Dark and Fever Heart. Besides that, Skarsgård's schedule is wide open, although that certainly seems like enough to keep him busy for the time being, while also allowing enough free time to work on Big Little Lies Season 2, should the series get renewed for another installment.

Adam Scott, Zoë Kravitz, and Laura Dern are also starring in the new HBO series, which is already set to be a hit. Fans of the book and people new to the work are all excited to see the show and with a cast like this it's no wonder why.

Big Little Lies premieres on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 9 p.m ET on HBO.
