Rachel Is 'The Bachelor' Contestant To Watch

by Chrissy Bobic

By now, fans know her as the woman who was the first to steal Nick's heart (and rose) this season on The Bachelor, but Rachel has done a lot more than woo a Bachelor in real life. In fact, she might be one of the more impressive women in the lineup this season, and her instant connection with Nick no doubt had many fans asking: who is Rachel on The Bachelor? The contestant is a Texas attorney from a big family who seems like she's always doing something exciting or important. And no, that isn't just making history as the first African-American Bachelor contestant to get the first impression rose, although that's kind of amazing in itself.

According to her Instagram, Rachel spends a lot of time with her family and with her adorable baby nephew. But she also finds the time to participate in charity poker events and work on photography projects. The 31-year-old attorney spent the past several years working up to where she is today and, according to LinkedIn, she's worked as a prosecutor for other firms and currently works as a civil litigation attorney, which includes environmental law, products liability, labor and employment, and intellectual property. Basically, she knows what she's doing and has been at it for years.

Currently, Rachel works with the Dallas, Texas firm Cooper & Scully, P.C., and before that she worked with other Dallas firms after passing the bar in 2011. But she wasn't lying to Nick when she said that she's close with her family. In fact, Rachel's younger sister could easily pass for her twin, so how much closer can you get, right?

Although she's a bona fide attorney, Rachel doesn't seem to take herself too seriously though. Under the caption of a photo from her first sit-down with Nick on the season premiere of The Bachelor, Rachel wrote, "What's the difference between a female lawyer and a pitbull? Lipstick. And red lipstick at that." And although she's a Dallas resident through and through, down to her love for the Cowboys, Rachel is originally from Milwaukee, which just makes her an even stronger contender for Nick's heart.

It's kind of hard to keep track of all of the women of The Bachelor and the friendships that are blooming as the weeks progress, but apparently Rachel is totally there for Raven and has forged a connection with the totally open and honest contestant. And it's so refreshing to see contestants stick around who seem very much anti-drama.

It's not really surprising to see that Rachel is as real as she seems to be on The Bachelor and that Nick was totally warranted in giving her the first impression rose because she totally earned it. There were no bells and whistles, or raw hotdogs, or maple syrup tastings to win his favor. Instead, she was just herself and their chemistry was popping right away. Basically: in real life, Rachel from The Bachelor is everything she said she is and more.
