Who Is Returning To 'Game Of Thrones' Season 7? The Finale Answered A Few Questions

by Zakiya Jamal

Unlike many other Game of Thrones season finales in the past, the epic conclusion for Season 6 gave fans a lot of answers instead of more questions. Cersei really went through with it and burned it all to the ground, Arya finally got her revenge on the Freys, and Daenerys is finally heading to Westeros. As with most Game of Thrones episodes lives were lost and with Cersei's epic use of wildfire and Tommen's heartbreaking suicide there's plenty of characters we won't see next season. So which Game of Thrones actors will be returning to Season 7?

According to Deadline, all three of the Lannister siblings will be returning for Season 7, which has officially been picked up, along with Season 8. Each of the actors, along with Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) have renewed their contracts with a pay increase of $500,000 per episode. However, according to Deadline this doesn't necessarily mean they will all survive Seasons 7 and 8. With Cersei now sitting on the Iron Throne and the look Jaime gave her, Jaime may have to take her out before she does something crazy again. If he doesn't, their other brother, Tyrion, just might. As he returns to Westeros with his Queen, Daenerys, Cersei probably won't be sitting on the throne for very long.

As for the Starks, Jon Snow is the only one confirmed for the next two (and possibly last) seasons although we now know for sure that he's a Stark and a Targaryen. At the moment none of the other Starks are confirmed for next season. However, how could Jon be King of the North (a job that already has a low survival rate) without Sansa, by his side? Additionally all the other Starks' storylines (really just Bran and Arya at this point) seem to indicate they'll also be returning for the next season. Arya just began her quest for vengeance and there's no stopping her now. Plus Bran (and Meera) are finally heading South and as Uncle Benjen said, Bran is key to stopping the White Walkers.

For now most of the cast for next season has yet to be confirmed and this may be due to ongoing contract negotiations. Either way there's no doubt our favorites will be returning for Season 7, and I can't wait!
