Who Is Returning To 'Scream Queens' Season 2? Characters Will Be Back In A New Setting

by Megan Walsh

The first season of Scream Queens was a rollercoaster. As it rollicked from one insane plot turn to the next, there was little consistency to be found but still an often horrifying, often cringe-inducing, can't-look-away kind of fun. A show with a strong cast and a distinctive look, it blended a nutty sense of humor with a lot of creative bloodshed and earned itself a fanbase just waiting to see what the show might come up with next. It will be back for another season starting on September 20, but after so many characters bit the dust last year, who is returning to Scream Queens Season 2?

Back when the show was first announced, showrunner Ryan Murphy promised that only four out of twenty-five characters would make it to the end of the season. Though that made it seem like main characters would be dropping like flies, it didn't exactly happen that way. It would appear the people behind the scenes just got too attached to the cast of characters they'd come up with, because most of them survived Season 1 – and most of them will be back for Season 2 as the setting changes drastically from a college campus to a hospital.

Jamie Lee Curtis will be back as Dean Munsch, though the character will now be the owner of the hospital where all of the action takes place. The three main Chanels will be back too, because let's be real – it wouldn't be Scream Queens without them. Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, and Abigail Breslin will all be reprising their roles, though this time they're medical students instead of sorority sisters.

Keke Palmer's Zayday will also see a welcome return, probably continuing the character's tradition of being smarter and more capable than nearly everyone else around. Lea Michele is set to return as Hester, the brains behind Season 1's crime spree. Glen Powell will be back as Chad Radwell and since Niecy Nash is also reappearing as Denise Hemphill, I can only hope the two rekindle their brief romance. I can't be the only one shipping Chadnise, right?

In addition to the return of so many first season standouts, there will be new actors joining the cast as well. John Stamos, Taylor Lautner, Colton Haynes, and Cecily Strong have all signed on for Season 2 as new characters.

The new season of Scream Queens brings with it a lot of changes, but one thing is sure to stay the same: whatever happens, it's going to be crazy.
