"Hungry Eyes" Will Sound Different In The 'Dirty Dancing' Reboot

by Zakiya Jamal

The original Dirty Dancing became a classic, but so did it's soundtrack. Most of the music used in the film were original songs made specifically for the movie. The music was so good, "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes went on to win a Grammy, an Oscar, and the Golden Globe for Best Original Song. While most fans only remember "(I've Had) The Time of My Life," there's also plenty of other songs from the film that were just as good, such as "Hungry Eyes." Unsurprisingly, the reboot has also remade some of these classic songs for the film. So who sings "Hungry Eyes" in the Dirty Dancing reboot? Nineteen-year-old Greyson Chance sings the tune, which was originally performed by Eric Carmen.

The young singer first came to fame when a video of him singing Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" at a sixth-grade music festival went viral back in 2010. He then went on to appear on Ellen before releasing some of his own music. His debut album, Hold On 'Til the Night, was released in August 2011 and his second EP, Somewhere Over My Head, came out in May 2016. Since then he's stepped away from music a little bit and according to Just Jared, Chance is actually currently in college. "Hungry Eyes" is Chance's first new music since the release of his second EP, not including a few features he's done in the past year. Fans can find "Hungry Eyes" on iTunes and Spotify now.

Also featured on the soundtrack are the cast of the film, Bea Miller, Karmin, Lady Antebellum, Seal, and Calum Scott. Unlike the original film, the reboot is actually a musical so there's a lot of new music. Songs like "Fever," "Do You Love Me" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" are all new songs added into the reboot. However, all the classics that Dirty Dancing fans love will still be included, just sung by new artists.

Though nothing will probably ever compare to the original, the reboot stands to be a fun trip into nostalgia. The three-hour musical event stars Abigail Breslin as Baby and newcomer Colt Prattes as Johnny Castle. Sarah Hyland, Debra Messing, Katey Sagal, Nicole Scherzinger, Bruce Greenwood, and Shane Harper also star.

You can see the Dirty Dancing reboot when it airs on Wednesday, May 24 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. You won't want to miss it!
