Jon & Dany May Fall In Love On 'Game Of Thrones' & OMG, Why?

by Kathleen Walsh

After six long years of waiting, Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are finally going to meet up, and everyone wants to know what they'll think of each other. Will Jon and Daenerys fall in love on Game of Thrones? Many fans fervently believe that these two will get married and form an alliance of ice and fire that will finally unite Westeros. Honestly, though, I'm not sure.

Jon and Dany are currently the two most eligible characters in Westeros. They are both young, attractive monarchs with a legion of devoted followers. And they both rose to their positions of leadership on their own merit, not by an accident of birth. However, there is the minor hiccup that they are technically related. Season 6 revealed that Jon's real parents were Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, which makes Dany technically his aunt. This might not be that big a deterrent, since this show has tackled brother and sister incest. Another important note is that Jon and Dany don't actually know that they're related yet. Bran is the only person alive who knows Jon's true heritage, and he is pretty MIA at the moment, so these two could totally hook up before they found out they're related.

If they do get married, this could actually be the best chance for fighting the enemy to the north (the undead army). Both characters have been called Azor Ahai or The Prince(ss) That Was Promised. Melisandre believes it's Jon Snow, while Kinvara believed it to be Dany. Maybe they unite and they are both Azor Ahai, who will together rid the world of White Walkers, through the combined powers of fire through Dany and ice through Jon. While at the moment their interests are not exactly aligned (Jon is preoccupied with the White Walkers and Dany wants his allegiance), they are two rational people who could probably come to an agreement.

Another reason for this marriage is that it is simply smart politically. Because they are both Targaryens, they are both a natural heir to the Iron Throne once Cersei dies. Theoretically, they could join forces and rule together. The only problem would be deciding who actually gets to sit on the Iron Throne, because I don't think the two of them would fit on it together.

We'll just have to wait and see how this first meeting goes. I doubt either of them will forget their first loves, but maybe it is time for a second.
