More Marvel's 'Iron Fist' Could Be On The Way

by Zakiya Jamal

It's almost time for the final Defender to come to Netflix. Iron Fist makes its grand debut to the streaming platform on Friday, March 17 and fans already can't wait to see how his story will play out. The show, which stars Finn Jones as the comic book superhero, will have a format similar to the other Netflix Marvel shows, where there will be flashbacks to his origin story as he faces off against threats in the present day. Based on the previews, the show looks just as good as the superhero franchises that proceeded it, which means fans are already asking will there be a Season 2 of Marvel's Iron Fist?

So far there's no news on a second season, however that's not too surprising since the show hasn't even been released yet and the Netflix Marvel schedule is currently fully packed. After Iron Fist, the four Defenders (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist) will team up for a joint effort series titled The Defenders, which is due out later this year. It's also been announced that both Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are coming back for a Season 2, Daredevil is getting a Season 3, and The Punisher is also coming to Netflix sometime in the future. To say the Netflix Marvel team is pretty booked would be an understatement.

It would be surprising if Iron Fist didn't get renewed for a second season though. Every other one of the Defender's shows have, so it seems fair to assume Iron Fist will as well. But that also depends on how successful the series is in the eyes of viewers. However, based on the other shows' success and how much all the Defender stories are interwoven together, I expect Iron Fist will do just fine. The fact that it's also the last solo Defender show before the team comes together will also probably help with its success because for those unfamiliar with the comics they'll probably want the background information on the character.

If you want a second season of Iron Fist the best way to make sure it happens is just to watch it and to tell everyone else to do the same. The more people who watch, the more likely it is that there will be another season. It's that simple. Plus, why wouldn't you want to watch? Your favorite resident superhero nurse, Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), will be in the show; Iron Fist, or Danny Rand, is very nice on the eyes; also, did I mention there will also be a lot of action-packed fighting sequences?

You can watch Iron Fist when it premieres on Netflix starting Friday, March 17.
