Your Zodiac Sign's Biggest Emotional Triggers In Relationships

by Lauren Schumacker

Whether you ardently believe that your zodiac sign reveals your inner workings and why you are the way that you are or you think it's all a bunch of hooey, it's difficult to deny the fact that there are often some striking similarities between what your horoscope says or how astrologers characterize your zodiac sign and parts of your actual personality. Your zodiac sign can provide insight into all different facets of your life, including your relationships. So, you might want to know what your zodiac sign says are the biggest emotional triggers in relationships for you so that you can be ready to recognize and react to them whenever they arise.

From stress to need to be right and so much more, the way that people of your zodiac sign tend to handle certain relationship-related situations might help you understand why you tend to react to certain things the way you do. While, hopefully, everything that stresses you out, frustrates, or infuriates you won't directly impact your relationship with your partner, what happens in one part of your life or affects the way you feel can seep into other parts of your life as well, so, chances are, each of your zodiac sign's emotional triggers will show up and affect your relationship at one point or another.

1

Capricorn (December 22 to January 19)

Capricorns are ambitious, they're planners, they take charge. In relationships, however, there are a few things that can trigger them. If they feel that their partner is quitting on something — themselves, the relationship, their obligations — that's sure to frustrate a Capricorn. They don't like quitters or quitting, so they're not likely to take it well in their relationship either. Not only that, but they're also practical. That practicality can make them seriously frustrated if their partner is more of a dreamer. Capricorns don't have time for that. Finally, Capricorns struggle with being perceived as wrong. That means that just about every disagreement you and your partner has can stress you out. You won't always agree on everything, but hopefully you'll be able to at least figure out a way to disagree without all the heartache.

2

Aquarius (January 20 to February 18)

If you're an Aquarius, you're likely to be shy, but also independent. When it comes to relationships, there are a number of things that can result in an emotional reaction from you. Because you're not happy when you feel like you're being isolated, if you start to feel like your partner is spending all their time working, that can become an issue for you. Though you're independent, you don't want to feel abandoned. Additionally, you struggle with broken promises, so when your partner promises they'll make time for a date night, a quick getaway, or that they'll pick your mom up from the airport and then they don't come through, that's sure to trigger an emotional response. Like Capricorn, you don't like when people don't agree with your opinion. This can cause problems in your relationships because, although you might wish otherwise, people aren't going to agree with everything you think all the time. Even though you're open-minded about many things, you want those close to you to automatically agree with whatever you say is right and that's just not how the world works.

3

Pisces (February 19 to March 20)

No one likes to receive criticism, but that's especially true for a Pisces. If you feel like your contributions and projects at work have been overly criticized as of late, that frustration can creep into your relationships, as well. Not only that, but if you feel like that know-it-all, one-upper co-worker of yours has been extra annoying lately, that, too can cause stress in your other relationships. Finally, because you're not so much a fan of the past coming back into relevance, when that ex of yours shows up in town, even if they're not actively interfering, that can cause some friction in your other relationships as you work to deal with what's happening.

4

Aries (March 21 to April 19)

For a passionate, determined Aries, it can be especially difficult when your boss gives you busy work that doesn't take advantage of your skill set, but, at the same time, you hate the idea of not getting anything done, so it's better than nothing. The stress and frustration associated with both of those can certainly spread into your relationships as you try to figure out how to parlay what you have now into productive, useful work that takes advantage of all you have to offer. Additionally, since you don't like to share, it's especially difficult on you when your sister asks if she can crash on your couch for awhile. That'll affect the relationship between the two of you as well as the relationship between you and your partner.

5

Taurus (April 20 to May 20)

If you're a Taurus, the insecurity that you'll lose out on a promotion because you're not as good as your co-worker can be really difficult for you to handle, which can seep into your relationship. Not only that, but when your best friend announces a big cross-country move, since you don't like change, that can cause problems too. It's stressful to lose someone you love and rely on and it's even more difficult if your partner is struggling to understand just why you're so emotional about the change. Also, since complications throw you for a loop, when you're told that the promotion you've been promised is contingent on you now tackling a difficult project, it can stress you out — a lot — meaning all the other relationships in your life can feel that stress as well.

6

Gemini (May 21 to June 20)

Geminis struggle with routines, which means that this can pose a problem for you when your kids go back to school and most days are roughly the same. Not only that, but if you're at home without the kids all day, the fact that you get frustrated by silence can also upset you, which you might then take out on your partner. You also don't like to feel confined, which can be part of a strict routine. You feel trapped and like you don't have any say in what happens throughout the day. Rather than letting that get the best of you, try to find ways to carve out time that can be spent spontaneously.

7

Cancer (June 21 to July 22)

You volunteered to help out with one of your kid's activities, but that means that you'll have to meet lots of new people all at once, which can be stressful for a Cancer. That stress can lead to frustration and resentment, even though it's no one's fault. Cancers can also struggle with revealing personal information about themselves, as well as feeling like they're being rushed into things, so any situation in which they're required to do that before they feel comfortable doing so can put some stress on their relationships.

8

Leo (July 23 to August 22)

Like an Aquarius, a Leo gets emotional when they feel as though they're being ignored. So if a partner is traveling a lot for work or friends don't have time to check in and connect, that can start to take a toll on the relationships in their life. Leos also like to be the best, so losing out on a role to someone else doesn't sit well with them. Finally, Leos don't like to face facts when things aren't going their way. If they've done something wrong or lose money, an opportunity, or a friend, it'll be difficult for them to process without getting emotional.

9

Virgo (August 23 to September 22)

Virgos are go-getters who have no patience for those who are lazy. If they're working on a group project and left to do all the work themselves while still sharing credit, that's going to weigh on them. Not only that, but they don't handle it well when someone is rude to them, which they can stew about for awhile after the fact. That can impact the other relationships in their life — and not in a good way. And while it might not seem like something that would make one emotional, because Virgos adamantly don't like to ask for help, the idea that they'd need to delegate, whether it's something for school, for work, or a dish for Thanksgiving dinner, can add a lot of stress.

10

Libra (September 23 to October 22)

Libras don't take kindly to bullies or being pushed around themselves. That PTA mom who's kind of a bully? Yeah, a Libra tends to react poorly to interactions with her, which can put stress on her other relationships too. Additionally, Libras don't like to see anything that seems unfair or unjust, and it can cause them to get a bit emotional, and they won't handle it well if their partner doesn't pitch in. Finally, Libras hate conflict, which means that not only will they try to avoid it, but when their attempts at avoidance are unsuccessful, it puts a lot of stress on them that can seep into other parts of their lives as well.

11

Scorpio (October 23 to November 21)

Dishonesty leaves a Scorpio feeling betrayed, so it's best not to lie to them. You might think that it's just a little white lie to tell them that everything's fine when it isn't, but it can be a big to them. No one likes when a partner lies to them, but for Scorpios it's an especially sensitive subject. Additionally, make sure that when you compliment a Scorpio, you mean it. Scorpios have no time for insincere flattery, which can frustrate or otherwise annoy them. Don't tell them you like that dress they're wearing just because. They don't want to hear it. Finally, Scorpios don't have the patience to put up with passive people. If you're wavering, wishy-washy, or sitting back and waiting for things to happen, that can make them agitated.

12

Sagittarius (November 22 to December 21)

Someone who is a Sagittarius doesn't like clingy people, which means if their partner is unable to do things for themselves and relies on them for everything, that can pose a real problem. Not only that, but they struggle with being constrained or tied down, like most people, those born under Sagittarius value some freedom to explore explore the world around them. If they feel as though they're not getting that, it can really frustrate them. Because Sagittarius likes changes and adventure, it can be difficult for them when they feel bored or stuck. They, in turn, can end up taking that out on their partner, who might even be contributing to that sameness and routine.

Regardless of your zodiac sign, everyone has emotional triggers. While they ideally won't always take a toll on your relationship, they can, so it's good to be able to recognize them when they inevitably show up.
