4 Moms On Their Unapologetic Self-Care Rituals Before Labor

by Christa Joanna Lee
Doesn’t it seem like everyone is talking about self-care these days?

You know how important it is to prioritize it, but when you’re preparing for your baby’s arrival (which means a never-ending to-do list), it can especially be a struggle to carve out that special time for yourself. To help inspire your own self-care practice, we asked four moms to share the guilt-free ways they indulged in some me-time before going to labor. Try one—or all!

A Comforting Pedicure

Depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy, there’s a chance you haven’t seen your toes in weeks (but don’t worry, the soreness and swelling will remind you they’re still there). “I feel fresher and happier in the immediate aftermath of a pedicure, but because of the pandemic, I couldn’t make it to the salon. Somehow I managed to do one on myself at home and pull it off,” says Megan Harding. “I didn’t trust my husband to help me with this!” No harm, however, in getting your partner to give a foot massage to complete your self-care experience.
