Katy Elliott

Katy Elliott is the Senior Editor of Personal Stories Editor at Scary Mommy. In her role she commissions first person personal essays parenting.

Katy graduated from The State University of New York at New Paltz with a BFA in Painting and Drawing while minoring in creative writing. She started a blog in 2004 (OG blogger!) profiling her writing and design skills and got noticed by House & Garden magazine (RIP) and became their first online editor. Since then she worked with the founding editorial team of domino and Fit Pregnancy (RIP too) magazines.

Katy stepped away from publishing for many years to focus on her family. She taught creative process design classes in her community in free time. Creating art is closely related to storytelling and Katy has a talent for bringing that story out of everyone.

Katy lives in Massachusetts in and old house by the sea with her two young kids. You can find her in her garden chatting with neighbors about flowers and life. Or at an estate sale digging through treasures. She enjoys cooking, photography, practicing yoga and loves a good Sunday drive through the country.
