Mekita has a decade of experience as a writer, editor, and content strategist, as well as an in-house copywriter. Previously, she was a contributing fashion writer at Refinery29 and Teen Vogue. In addition to fashion, she frequently writes about culture, identity, politics, wellness, and travel. Her work has been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Vogue, Architectural Digest, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, InStyle, Cosmopolitan, and others. She earned her undergraduate degrees in journalism and English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

She is currently working on a forthcoming novel. When not writing — or thinking about writing — she enjoys high intensity workouts, calming yoga sessions, sustainably sourced food and wine, and planning her next escapade.
