The 1979 Star Trek-themed Happy Meal was the first time McDonald’s promoted a movie, game, or show. The meals included this space-age communicator with a winding comic strip inside.

McDonald’s really outdid themselves back in 1986, when they debuted the first Halloween pails in three Jack-O-Lantern designs. They came back a few times afterward, most recently in 2022, with ghost and witch pail additions.
