Amber Tamblyn's New Mom Instagram Pic Is Lit

Amber Tamblyn knows a little something about sisterhood. And travelling pants, obviously, but I digress. Tamblyn gets that women, particularly new moms, are vulnerable. And need to feel like their struggle is shared. So when Tamblyn posted her first postpartum pic to Instagram, it was super real and super appreciated.

Throughout her career, as an actress (Joan of Arcadia, Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants), a director (Paint It Black), and a writer (columnist for Glamour magazine), Tamblyn has been unwavering in her support of women. Even the way she chose to announce that she was expecting her daughter with husband David Cross was done in the spirit of considering other women; she wrote a column for Glamour in October called "The Frame That Holds the Big Picture: How Mothers and Daughters Can Change the Way We Talk About Being Women." In that column, where she asked readers to consider the way they viewed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, she wrote about her concerns for the way the world views women:

Motherhood has been heavily on my mind because I am going to be a mother soon. I'm pregnant, with a daughter on the way. I think constantly about the world I am bringing her into.

Tamblyn gave birth to her little girl on Feb. 21, and her life since then looks... well, basically the way most moms lives look after having a baby.

Wearing a grey, wrinkled top clearly splattered with breast milk and her trademark sardonic grin, Tamblyn captioned the photo:

Who Wore It Better? Left tit or right tit? #MilkLife #StarsThey'reJustLikeUs.

After seeing that picture, I could almost hear the grateful weeping of exhausted new moms, themselves decked out in similar milk-stained tops, because they were being properly represented by a celebrity. Not one of those celebrities who has a baby one day and then shows up to an awards show the next dressed in skintight sequins, but someone real. Who just gets it. Moms took to the comment section to say thanks:

This isn't the first time Amber Tamblyn has killed it on Instagram in recent weeks; when she and Cross (who married in 2012) announced the birth of their baby girl, they did so with a sweet video of her foot and a (fake) name straight from the feminist dictionary.

But she might want to come up with a nickname right quick.
