Celebrity Mother's Day Instagram Posts That Will Melt Your Heart

It's Mother's Day! The holiday inspires traditions, brunches, stops at roadside flower stands, and major (sometimes sloppy, but always sweet) role reversals during which everyone attempts to take care of their moms instead of the other way around, for a change. It's never hard for me to remember why I love and appreciate my mom so much, because she literally always calls and really, really cares about what's going on with me. And that's the thing about moms: No matter what day it is, they always seem to be celebrating their kids. Celebrities are no different, and sometimes they share that pride with the rest of us. This year, there were plenty of celebrity Mother's Day Instagram posts, all capable of melting your heart completely.

The stars are so incredibly glamorous that it's easy to forget that in their personal lives, they're busy figuring this whole parenting thing out and share a lot of the same worries and small triumphs as so many moms. The fact that they're able to do it in the spotlight means they deserve all the Mother's Day hugs. They may get to celebrate Mother's Day in higher style than the rest of us, but, at the end of the day, they're thankful for their kids and want the world to know it every day of the year, just like everyone else.

John Legend & Chrissy Teigen

On Sunday, singer John Legend shared two adorable pics of his newborn daughter Luna, captioning both with a message to his wife, Chrissy Teigen. "Happy Mother's Day!" he wrote. "To my wonderful wife, Chrissy Teigen: Luna and I are so lucky to have you in our lives. If our daughter can be even half as awesome as you, I will be so happy and proud. Happy 1st Mother's Day!"

Britney Spears

Isn't it crazy to think that Britney Spears two sons, Preston and Jayden, are 10 and 9 years old? We've been with Brit from "...Baby One More Time" to her infamous 55-hour marriage to her journey into motherhood. And although she's had her share of personal struggles, Spears has show how much she loves her kids. In a recent open letter to them, which was published in TIME, just in time for Mother's Day, she referred to them as her "masterpieces" and express her wish that they " laugh, love and soar through [their] journey of life."

Always believe in yourself and know anything is possible. I pray dreaming awakens your soul to limitless possibilities. I hope the most precious mysteries of life stay with you always and you are never ashamed of how bright your light truly is. I hope you learn praying alone is when you are most connected to God, and know you are never alone. He is with you always.

Now I want to hug her.

Kris Jenner

Kris Jenner is known as quite the "momager" to her prolific brood, but she's really just a regular, loving mom at heart. In this throwback Mother's Day post, she tells the world just how much all her kids mean to her. "Happy Mothers Day to all the amazing Moms out there!!! Lots of love #myheart #blessed," she captioned it.

Michael Phelps & Nicole Johnson

The Olympic gold medalist swimmer just became a dad over the weekend, and he posted this fitting tribute to his fiancée Nicole Johnson. "Happy Mother's Day @nicole.m.johnson !!! The first one!! Love you so much!!" he wrote in the caption.

Adriana Lima

Victoria's Secret model and all-around badass mom Adriana Lima spent Mother's Day weekend with her two girls, Valentina and Sienna. "Best gift for Mothers Day, from a dear friend and best flower maker @lee_annfeathers... We love you," she wrote, posting a photo of a gorgeous floral display and her daughters dancing gleefully around it.

Molly Sims

Actress and activist Molly Sims spent the day spreading an important message and, in turn, giving her daughter an important example to look up to later in life. "May is #NationalFosterCare month," she wrote in the caption, adding a link for her supporters to donate to a special cause. "To support @allianceofmoms & to get these super cute tees, visit allianceofmoms.org to learn more."

Mindy Kaling

Actress and writer Mindy Kaling used her celeb platform to give a shout-out to moms and kids everywhere who weren't so lucky on Mother's Day. In the caption, she explained,

For those of us who miss our moms, or who miss your kids, Mother's Day can be really tough. To all of you in that boat, I send my fiercest hug and love. What was your mom like? What was your kid like? I wanna know! I'll respond throughout the day. My mom was the most hard-working doctor and glamorous person. She always dressed up, even when she had to leave in the middle of the night to deliver babies. When I saw her I felt so lucky. Also, she was hilarious.

Nick Cannon & Mariah Carey

This power couple may not be together anymore, but that didn't stop Cannon from dedicating a sweet Mother's Day post to his ex-wife and having a fun family meal together over the weekend. In the caption beneath a photo of Carey and the couple's 5-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, Cannon wrote,

Celebrating Mothers Day the right way!!! Blessings to all the Ncredible Sacrificing Selfless Women in the Universe!

Lea Michele

Actress and singer Lea Michele posted a picture of herself with her mom in a sweet Mother's Day Insta-post on Sunday. "The happiest Mother's Day to the best mommy in the whole world," she wrote in the caption.

Kevin & Danielle Jonas

The oldest of the three Jonas Brothers and dad of one (with another on the way) Instagrammed a photo of wife Danielle holding daughter Alena on Sunday. "Happy Mother's Day to you baby! Me and Alena and ? Love you," he wrote in the caption, hinting at the couple's impending bundle of joy.

Jonas didn't stop there either, giving a sweet shout-out to his mom Denise as well on Twitter.

Celebrities: They're just like us — they love their moms. Isn't that sweet?
