It looks like the Duggar family is about to grow again. Jill (Duggar) Dillard and her husband, Derick Dillard, are getting ready to welcome their second child in the coming weeks. Coming from such a large family, fans are curious as to how many kids Jill Duggar might want down the road. Will she be like her mom, Michelle Duggar, and welcome her 20th child some day? Or would she like to call it quits after the new baby is born?
The Counting On star is due for her second baby in July. She and husband Derick, who are already parents to two-year-old son Israel David Dillard, shared their good news with People in December:
We are so excited to be expecting Dillard baby #2! Children really are a wonderful blessing from God. Having Israel has been such a delight to us that we know a second sweet baby will only continue to add joy to our family. We are thankful to God for this sweet child and we cannot wait to see her or him face to face!
The newest addition to the Dillard family is due in July, and Jill Dillard is excited to see how son Israel reacts to having a sibling. In a 2015 episode of Counting On, she said she felt Israel was ready to have a little brother or sister:
Israel is ready to be a big brother. I think it will be good for him, too. He’ll learn to share.
Luckily for Israel, it looks like he could have loads of siblings down the road (the Dillards announced that their second baby is a boy). Jill Dillard told ABC News (not long before they married in 2014) that she and husband, Derick, would like to have "as many kids as God will give" them.
Both of us want as many kids as God will give us and we've talked about adoption. My parents have kept popping them out so we'll see how [our] fertility is!
Adopting a child is something that reportedly means a lot to Derick Dillard; he was an adopted child himself. In 2015, the Dillards returned from a mission trip in Central America and were talking adoption possibilities with Jill's younger sister Jessa and her husband, Ben Seewald upon their return. Both couples already had one child (Ben and Jessa's son Sturgeon was one-year-old at the time and they have since welcomed another son, Henry), Derick said:
My mom’s adopted, so it kind of hits home with me. We both think it’s a wonderful thing. We’ve talked about it a lot, and we’re definitely considering it.
It looks as though the Dillards are hoping to love as many kids as possible. Whether through birth or by adoption, they clearly plan on Counting On.
