'The Hills' Heidi Montag Shared The Gender Of Her Baby

I'm not sure what's going on with The Hills' alumni lately, but it seems like everyone is having a baby. Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port... and now, infamous reality power couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. Not to be outdone, the couple are expecting their first child later this year. And now, after announcing her pregnancy in April, Montag shared the gender of her baby with Us Magazine.

In the interview with Us, Montag announced that she and husband Pratt are expecting a baby boy in October. She said she received a call not that long ago while Pratt was in bed in their Santa Barbara, California, home and she could barely contain her excitement.

I ran into the room and said, "It’s the doctor’s office!" The doctor said, "It’s a boy!" I started screaming.

Montag told the news outlet that she was secretly hoping for a baby boy all along, where husband Pratt turned out to be more gender-neutral in his feelings about the baby:

It was in my heart to have a boy. I thought Spencer really used to want a boy, and then a few months ago we had a conversation where he said, “Let’s just make sure it’s healthy. Boy or girl, I don’t care."

That's not to say Montag doesn't hope to some day have a little girl as well, she was just thinking about how her husband might deal with the new arrival:

I hope to have a little girl one day, but for my first child, I really wanted a son. I’m hoping to God that we don’t just have one, but if we do, I wanted a son. I thought it’d be a more natural bond for Spencer since he and his dad are so close.

For his part, Pratt told the magazine:

Heidi has wanted to be a mom since the day I met her. She has planned for and thought about this.

Yet his own journey to fatherhood has not been so clear cut. When he and Montag starred on the reality series Marriage Boot Camp back in 2014, the couple were asked to sleep in a room with a crib. Montag reportedly loved it, picturing their future. While Pratt? Not so much. When asked if the thought of creating a child with Montag put him "in the mood," Pratt didn't hold back, according to She Knows:

There was no mood there. It was just a reminder to create one of these things [a baby] that you need diapers for. The only mood I was in was trying to do was quit the show.

Thankfully, Pratt has changed his tune in the years since then. Because Montag is ready to orchestrate some serious father-son bonding time when baby Speidi arrives. When Us asked her how Pratt felt about having a baby boy, she said:

He was really excited! He trains jujitsu all the time, so he’s excited to have a little grappler. He’ll be doing jujitsu and soccer with him.

Hopefully Pratt will wait until the baby is at least three to start in with the grappling. Maybe he can just hang out and share his love of tabloid magazines until his son is mobile.
