The New ‘GoT’ Promo Wants You To "Sit Down"

You may need to sit down for this one. A new Game of Thrones Season 7 promo has been released by HBO and you actually get to see three pivotal characters take center stage: Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, and Cersei Lannister. While none of them interact with each other, they're all heading to their perspective thrones, teasing of the epic battle for power that is to come. And while there's a lot to absorb from this teaser, the one big takeaway fans may have involves the song playing in the Game of Thrones Season 7 promo. It helps set the scene for our next trip to Westeros.

As the lyrics suggest, the song is titled "Sit Down" by James, though, the tone of the GoT version is extra dark and dangerous — much like the show itself. That being said, the lyrics seem to fit perfectly with what's going on in the trailer. Obviously, the sit down part works well with watching all three characters physically sit down upon their thrones. But even if you listen closer to the rest of the song, it definitely carries with it all the themes that have become quite well known in the Game of Thrones world. Just listening to the line "In love, in fear, in hate, in tears" is enough to send chills running up and down your spine.

Real talk: I may or may not have already watched this about a hundred times. But really with a background song like this can you really blame me? Not to mention the fact that it feels more like an awesome music video than a regular promo. But I haven't even gotten to the best part yet.

Near the end of the clip, the camera zooms out to reveal that we've been watching this all take place within the eye of the Night's King, signifying that his presence will undoubtedly play a big role in the upcoming season. And even more curiously, Cersei is seen emitting a long exhale of cold air. Is this to signify that winter is coming to King's Landing or could the mean go even deeper than that? Could Cersei potentially team up with the white walkers? Could she actually become one of them?

As per usual, Game of Thrones delivers so many more questions than answers, but if this promo is any indication, this is going to be the most intense season yet and we all better sit down if we're going to be able to get through it.

Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres on Sunday, July 16 on HBO.
