In just a couple of days, we'll all be sneaking out of work early (or giving thanks that the office is already closed) and hitting the road, the beach, or the backyard to celebrate the last leisurely days of summer on the final holiday weekend of the season. For many of us, it also means that we'll be taking advantage of the many Labor Day 2018 sales being offered by our favorite retailers.

The nice thing about a three (and if you're lucky, four) day weekend is that, unless you're spending all of it in a secluded vacation spot far from the malls and outlets (and if you are, then I am *so* living vicariously through you), you have plenty of time to study the circulars, check the holiday hours of your favorite stores, browse Amazon, and discover the many bargains on clothes, furniture, appliances, and more.

Naturally, some of the best buys this weekend are on items that need to be cleared out before the cold-weather goods come in. This is the time to stock up on marked-down shorts, skorts, and t-shirts for next summer (go for a size larger than your kids wear now, to allow for those growth spurts), and to snag the deals on seasonal goods that you won't be able to find once the leaves start dropping off the trees.

Best of all, you don't even have to wait until the holiday weekend officially starts on Friday to start saving. Many stores have already begun their sales this week, and many are extending their sales well beyond Monday; some are even offering deep discounts through next weekend.
