ROMPER: This collaboration goes beyond back-to-school style with a clothing donation benefiting local youth through the Boys & Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley & Eastside. Why was it important for you to include a community giveback component as part of this partnership with SHEIN?
CHEYENNE DAVIS: As a mom, I know back-to-school season is about giving kids the confidence to start fresh. That feeling should be something every child gets to experience. Being able to provide clothing, backpacks, and school supplies to local families made this partnership feel even more meaningful, and I hope it helps kids head into the school year feeling supported and excited.
ROMPER: You've spoken about how clothing can help build kids' confidence. What do you hope the back-to-school donation means for the students and families receiving it as they head into the new school year?
DAVIS: I hope it eases some of the pressure families can feel during back-to-school season while giving kids outfits they feel great wearing. I'm grateful that SHEIN and I were able to be part of that experience. When kids feel comfortable and confident, it can change how they show up on that first day. More than anything, I hope they know there's a community behind them, rooting for them as they start a new school year.
ROMPER: Parents are always trying to balance style with budget. What advice would you give families looking to maximize their back-to-school wardrobe without overspending?
DAVIS: Think about building a wardrobe instead of buying individual outfits. That's exactly the approach I took with my SHEIN collection. I always look for versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched throughout the week, so getting dressed is easier, and you get more wear out of everything you buy. Pieces that work for school, after-school activities, and weekends help stretch your budget even farther, and having outfits planned can make busy mornings so much less stressful.
ROMPER: How did you make sure the collection offers pieces that kids are excited to wear while still giving parents practical options?
DAVIS: I approached this collection as a mom first. I wanted to include pieces my own kids would actually be excited to put on, while making sure they're comfortable, easy to style, and durable enough for everything a school day brings. I also kept versatility in mind because parents want clothes that can go from the classroom to the playground, after-school activities, and even special school events without needing a separate wardrobe.
ROMPER: What are your top three back-to-school shopping tips for busy parents this season?
DAVIS: First, choose versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched into multiple outfits for the week. Second, look for clothes that work beyond the classroom so kids can wear them to recess, after-school activities, and on weekends. And finally, don't forget about school spirit and theme days! Having a few fun accessories or statement pieces on hand makes those moments a lot easier without buying a whole new outfit every time.
ROMPER: What do you consider to be the most important part of kids' before-school routines?
DAVIS: We try to set ourselves up the night before — whether that's planning outfits, packing backpacks, or making sure everyone gets enough rest, because it makes busy school mornings so much smoother. That's also part of the thinking behind my SHEIN collection; having versatile outfits that are easy to put together takes one more decision off parents' plates. Those small habits help my kids feel prepared and confident heading into the day, and I think that sense of organization carries over into everything they do, both at school and afterward.
ROMPER: What is your favorite item in the collection and why?
DAVIS: The matching sets are definitely my favorite pieces in my collection because they're such an easy solution for busy families. Kids can wear the pieces together for an effortless outfit or mix and match them with other basics to create completely different looks throughout the week. That versatility was something I really wanted this collection to deliver because it gives parents more options without needing a closet full of clothes.
