With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, it's only a matter of time before it's socially acceptable to sit down with an entire box of chocolates and not get up until they're finished. Other acceptable pastimes for Valentine's Day include wearing heart-covered clothing in an un-ironic manner, pairing pink and red together without abandon, and classifying sugar as a food group. If you're still not quite sure what your plans are yet, why not pair your pink and red heart dreams and sugar binge with once of the many sexy Valentine's Day movies?
Whether you've got a partner this coming holiday or you're riding solo, the following films have plenty of frisky action and sexy scenes to get you in the Valentine's Day mood. Though none of the following movies actually revolve around the upcoming holiday (there are very few of those that actually exist), they do hit the trifecta of Valentine's Day necessities: love, sex, and drama. So whether you're looking for something fun and sexy or dark and sexy, there's a movie out there for you to enjoy this Valentine's Day, so that you don't have to eat that box of chocolates alone. Because if you're eating an entire box of chocolates with Richard Gere and Diane Lane, it's totally acceptable, right? Right.
1. 'The Little Death'
Following four couples as they navigate the different stages of their relationships, this Australian film is quirky, hilarious, and sexy.
2. 'Cruel Intentions'
This one takes me back to high school when I had to sneak into the theatre to see this movie and pray that I didn't get caught. The beginning of the Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe era, steamy, a little creepy, and altogether thrilling, this flick never goes out of style.
3. 'Y Tu Mamá También'
Everyone's latest internet boyfriend Diego Luna and his IRL best friend Gael Garcia Bernal are teenagers in this move, taking an older woman on a road trip. Lots of sex, lots of drugs, lots of scandal.
4. 'Basic Instinct'
Sharon Stone has no qualms about revealing just about everything in this '90s thriller with Michael Douglas. Vintage? Yes. Sexy? Also yes.
5. 'Blue Is The Warmest Color'
If you can handle the heartbreak of the movie, everyone knows there's some seriously sexy content in this film about coming of age and discovering your sexuality.
6. 'On The Road'
This literary classic got a recent adaptation with Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, and Sam Riley, and doesn't hesitate to dive into the world of sexual freedom and experimentation.
7. '9 1/2 Weeks'
This film is full of erotic and steamy scenes, there's no question. One in particular has the two leads exploring all the uses for milk and honey on the kitchen floor. Food for thought, seriously.
Get kinky with this flick starring Maggie Gyllenhaal as a secretary who indulges her boss in his fantasies and soft version of S&M.
9. 'The Dreamers'
This film is practically a love letter to French cinema, and circles around a fairly incestuous love triangle between a French brother and sister and an American tourist they meet amidst protests in Paris. Bathtubs, running through the Louvre, and a twisted concept of love take center stage in this steamy flick.
10. 'Dangerous Liasions'
This period drama version of Cruel Intentions stars John Malkovich as the playboy (just trust me), and Uma Thurman, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Glenn Close as the women around him.
11. 'Shakespeare In Love'
Now that I'm on a period drama roll, let me suggest Shakespeare In Love. It's like all the Shakespeare you ever had to read in high school, highly dramatic, seemingly impossible, but with more sex, and less death. Plus you get to see a young Gwyneth in drag. Two thumbs way, way up.
12. 'Love & Basketball'
Told over the span of two decades, Love & Basketball is not only crazy romantic and slightly heartbreaking, but ridiculously sexy.
13. 'Fifty Shades Of Grey'
You knew you weren't getting out of this list without this bad boy mentioned, right? No matter how you feel about the books, the movies, whatever, at the very least this flick provides some good inspiration for your next adventurous romp.
Regardless of the outcome of this film, it is undeniably sexy. It stars Richard Gere and Olivier Martinez vying for Diane Lane's affections. Could it get sexier than that? It can, and it does.
15. 'The Thomas Crown Affair'
The remake starring Rene Russo and Pierce Brosnan is nothing short of seductive. It's jetsetting, it's exotic locations, it's stealing art, it's sex on his marble staircase, yes, it's worthy of a Valentine's Day watch.
