The Dutton family saga is coming to a close — for one generation, that is. Paramount announced Yellowstone is ending with Season 5 and another sequel is in the works. While Part 1 of the final season has already aired, we’re still waiting for the second half. So when will the rest of Yellowstone Season 5 air and when will it come to Peacock? Here’s everything you need to know.

Is Yellowstone ending?

Sadly, yes. Taylor Sheridan’s wildly popular modern day western that kicked off an entire franchise of shows, including 1883 and 1923, is ending with Season 5. The series’ final episodes were expected to start airing this November, but that has been delayed due to the Hollywood writers and actors strikes. Whatever ends up happening, though, Sheridan said he will wrap up the Yellowstone legacy right.

“If I think it takes 10 episodes to wrap it up, they’ll give me 10,” Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter in June. “It’ll be as long as it needs to be.”

While Yellowstone is ending, Paramount is moving forward with a new sequel that will have “Yellowstone” in its name. “I am confident our Yellowstone sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life,” Chris McCarthy, president and CEO Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement.

“The Dutton story continues, picking up where Yellowstone leaves off in another epic tale. We are thrilled to bring this new journey to audiences around the world,” 101 Studios CEO David Glasser added.

When will Yellowstone Season 5 come to Peacock?

All eight episodes from Part 1 of Yellowstone Season 5 are available to stream on Peacock now. The next batch of episodes will come to Peacock once they’ve, well, been filmed and then aired on the Paramount Network.

Which seasons of Yellowstone are streaming on Peacock right now?

Seasons 1 through 4 as well as Part 1 of Yellowstone Season 5 are available to stream on Peacock right now.

Why isn’t Yellowstone streaming on Paramount+?

Even though Sheridan’s popular Dutton family spin-offs like 1923 and 1883 are available to stream on Paramount+, Peacock currently has exclusive streaming rights to Yellowstone. That’s because Yellowstone premiered in 2018 before the Paramount Network’s streaming platform, Paramount+, launched in 2021. And Yellowstone will reportedly remain on Peacock for quite some time. Screenrant reports that Peacock “will retain the rights to the series until four years after the final episode airs.”

The new Yellowstone sequel, however, will go straight to Paramount+.

Where can you watch Yellowstone Season 5 right now?

Don’t have Peacock? You can watch the first eight episodes of Yellowstone Season 5 on the Paramount Network channel, not Paramount+, so you will need a cable subscription to watch the first half of the latest season. Don’t have cable? You can snag a free 24-hour viewing pass through the network or sign up for Philo or SlingTV, which both offer free trials.

You can also purchase Yellowstone Season 5 on Amazon Prime for $39.99. That includes Part 1 and Part 2, but only the first eight episodes are currently available to stream.

When will the second half of Yellowstone Season 5 premiere?

Paramount announced that it plans to air the final episodes of Yellowstone in November 2024, Variety reports.

So, as we wait for the rest Season 5 of Yellowstone to air, you can always go back and rewatch the first four seasons. Or check out the prequel series 1923 and see Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford as a different generation of Duttons.
